Hello everyone,

How was your weekend? I saw many students at the Yoshiwara Gion Festival on Saturday and Sunday. It’s always a great atmosphere every year and it always nice to see so many members of the local community out and about. It was my birthday last Friday. Thank you to the staff for the lovely presents and to the many students who wished me a happy birthday. I had a nice time.

みなさん、こんにちは。

先週末はどう過ごしましたか。私は土日の二日間とも、吉原祇園祭へいきました。たくさんのHARIO生にあいました

毎年、すごく活気があって吉原が盛り上がりますね。

先週の金曜日は私の誕生日でした。スタッフ達の皆さん、ラブリーなプレゼントをありがとう。お祝いの言葉をくれた生徒の皆さん、ありがとう

Did you read the news about the UK election. Like I said last week, it’s difficult to predict the results of these but this time was a little bit of shock. Prime Minister May and the Conservative Party, who had a very big lead just a month ago ended up losing seats and doesn’t have a majority any more. The Labour Party made big gains but doesn’t have a majority either. So May will carry on for now with support from a minor Northern Ireland party, the DUP. It’s all a bit chaotic and could change again soon and we might need another election.

ところでイギリスの選挙のニュースをご覧になりましたか。先週のブログでも私はいいました。つねに結果を予想することは難しいのですが、でも今回の選挙はいつもとは少し違いました。メイ首相率いる保守党が議席数を減らし、過半数を獲得することができませんでした。メイ首相は、北アイルランドの民主統一党の閣外協力を求めるでしょう。選ばれたばかりの政党がこんなにも速く終わってしまうドタバタ選挙ではありましたが、この結果によりまた選挙をする必要があるでしょう。

You might have noticed we have some new stationary boxes in our classrooms with the Hario logo on them. They have been hand made by my wife, Natsuyo. Each one’s a little different. The one in my room has a rabbit on it. I want to thank her for the great job she did. I hope you all like them.

もう気づいた人もいるかもしれません。私の部屋と文法クラスの部屋に写真のような「鉛筆たて」が設置されました。

これは私の妻のナツヨが作ったものなんです。それぞれの部屋にある箱はちょっとずつ違います。私の部屋にある箱は「うさぎ」が描かれています。時間をかけて、こんなに可愛い箱を作ってくれてありがとう
