Hello everyone,

There’s a cold snap in the air all over Japan this week. There was up to two meters of snow in some places! Luckily for us, Fuji rarely gets any snow. It’s mostly been dry and sunny here this winter. I have only seen it snow once in my entire time in Fuji. We have one of the mildest climates in the country. It’s still too hot for me in summer though!

I visited Iwamotoyama Park today, and I was surprised to see the Ume trees are already beginning to bloom! They will be at full bloom in February, but we can already see the buds on the trees. You can see in the photo that some of the trees have little blossoms on them. I can’t believe they appeared so early!

Have you been following the run up to the presidential inauguration in America this week? On Friday Donald Trump will become the president of the U.S.A. There is a lot of controversy around him. There are a lot of people who don’t agree with his policies and overall style as a presidential candidate. He hasn’t been very diplomatic when it comes to foreign policy. For example, he wants to pull the U.S.A. out of the Trans Pacific Partnership. I think he’s too aggressive to be president. What do you think?

みなさんこんにちは。

今週は大寒波が日本を覆っています。2メートル以上の積雪を記録したところもあるようです。富士ではほとんど雪が降ることはありません。基本的に乾燥し、晴れの日がほとんどですよね。1度だけ富士で雪を見る事がありましたが、日本でも温暖な気候の地域の一つではないかと思います。私にとって夏は暑すぎますが

本日、岩本山公園に行ってきましたそこで梅の花がもうすぐ咲きそうになっているのを見て驚きました。2月頃に満開になりますが、もう芽が生えているのを確認できます。写真をみてもわかると思います。こんなに早いとはとても驚きです

今週、アメリカでは大統領就任式が行われますが、みなさんはその様子をご覧になっていますか金曜日にドナルド・トランプ氏はアメリカ大統領に就任します。彼の周りではいろいろな議論がなされています。彼の政策や大統領候補としての振る舞いに共感できないという人々が多くいます。アメリカをTTPから脱退させたいという考えなど、外交政策においてもあまりいい印象を受けません。私は彼は大統領としては攻撃的すぎると思っていますが、皆さんはどの様に思われますか
