Hello everyone,

How are you doing this week? I’m surprised. On Wednesday, Donald Trump won the US presidential election. There’s been a range of reactions from my students and on my Facebook timeline, from excitment to fear and concern. This year, the UK decided to ‘Brexit’ or leave the European Union too. Whatever your thoughts about this, we live in interesting times politically.

Anyway, enough of politics. The speech contest is only 8 days away! Tomorrow we will have a rehearsal for the songs our youngest students will perform at the speech contest. They have been making animal masks for the song, ‘Old McDonald Had a Farm’. There are some really wonderful designs. Children’s imaginations are amazing.

We are in the middle of the second round of parents’ days. Students are performing their speeches in front of an audience of parents as well as having a regular lesson. It’s a nice opportunity to meet the parents of our students and for our students to finish their speech homework with a mini speech contest.

みなさん、こんにちは。いかがお過ごしですか。水曜日にアメリカ大統領にトランプ氏が選ばれ、私は驚きました。生徒や周りの友人など、このニュースに対して、「期待している」「心配している」などいろんな感想があるようです。今年、私の母国であるイギリスもEUからの離脱を国民投票により決めました。

政治の話はおいておいて、HARIOのスピーチコンテストまであと８日間となりました。明日は、コンテストの一部リハーサルがあります。Old McDonald Had a Farmの歌では、生徒たちが作ったマスクをつけてパフォーマンスします。面白いデザインのマスクもいくつかありました。子供たちの想像力は果てしないですね。
