The Olympic games オリンピック

Welcome back! How was Obon week? I spent the week in Nagano with my in-laws and had a nice time attending summer festivals, hiking and seeing friends and family. I hope you all are enjoying the summer and finding time to rest and relax.

Are you watching the Rio Olympics? I have been enjoying seeing lots of great sports. Great Britain is doing very well again and is 2nd in the medal table at the moment with 19 gold medals. Japan has 10 at the moment and is 6th. Congratulations to all the athletes. Their dedication is inspiring. Did you know there are 39 different summer Olympic sports (depending on how you categorise them)? Can you name them all? Great Britain has done best in sports like cycling, rowing and gymnastics. My favourite moment so far was to see Adam Peaty win the gold medal and break the world record in the men’s 100 metre breaststroke in the swimming. He and his coach developed a new technique with shorter, faster strokes. At the moment, only he can swim this way which is why he won. There’s still a few more days of the Olympics with more athletics and the closing ceremony so I’m looking forward to the rest of it.

お盆休みはいかがでしたでしょうか私は1週間、長野の義理の家族の所へ行き、夏祭りに参加したり、ハイキングをしたり、友人と会ったりしてとても良い時間を過ごすことができました皆さんも夏休みを満喫しているといいですね。

さて皆さんはリオオリンピックをご覧になっていますか私は色々な種目を見ています。イギリスは良くやっていて、19枚の金メダルをこれまでに獲得し、メダル獲得ランキングでも2位に位置しています。日本は10枚の金メダルで6位です。選手の皆さん、おめでとうございます。彼等のがんばりには感動させられます。皆さんは夏のオリンピックには39の種目があると知っていましたか？全種目を言えますか？イギリスはサイクリング、ローイング、体操といった種目でいい成績を残しています。私がこれまでにこの大会で心に残っている場面といえば、水泳のアダム・ピーティー選手が男子平泳ぎ100メートルで世界記録を作り、金メダルを獲得したということです彼と彼のコーチは短く早いストロークという新しいテクニックを考案しました。現在、彼だけがこの泳ぎ方ができ、だからこそ彼は勝つことができたのです閉会までまだありますので、残りの種目を見るのがすごく楽しみです。
