Hello everyone,

How’s life with you? Next week is Halloween week. Remember to bring your costumes. Good luck to Hario’s students at Mistubishi Food Tech; they are taking the TOEIC test this weekend.

Last weekend there was a neighbourhood festival in Kunikubo, the neighbourhood that includes Hario English School and my apartment amongst other things. Deloy – who you may remember as a judge at last year’s speech contest (He’s also judging this year too) – was playing the taiko drums with his group. They were very good. I saw many Hario students there. I think I saw and spoke to at least 9 Hario students as well as parents. It was nice to see you all there. There was traditional festival activities like carrying a ”mikoshi”, a traditional Japanese parade float, and traditional Japanese dancing. I took part in both of those. It was a lot of fun. They broke open a barrel of sake to wish good luck on the neighbourhood. It was some nice sake. It was nice to spend time with people in the neighbourhood and see so many familiar faces.

みなさんこんにちは。

先週はハロウィンウィークですね。コスチュームや何か身に着けるものをお忘れなく。今週末TOEICを受けるHARIO の企業クラスの皆様、頑張って下さい。

先週末は国久保の地域のお祭りがありました。HARIOの周辺や私の自宅周辺の地域のお祭りです。覚えている方もいらっしゃるかもしれませんが、去年スピーチコンテストの審査員をしてくれた(今年もしてくれる事になりました）デロイさん友人達と太鼓の演奏をしていました。とても上手でしたよ。私はそのお祭りで沢山のHARIOの生徒さんに会いました。少なくとも9人くらいの生徒さんや親御さんとお話したと思います。学校以外でも皆さんに会えてよかったです。お祭りと言えばのおみこしや伝統的な踊りなども見ることができ、私はその2つとも参加させてもらいました。すごく楽しかったです。そしてこの地域にいいことがありますようにと酒樽をわってお酒が振る舞われました。お酒もおいしく、また近隣の方々と楽しい時間を過ごすことができ、知っている皆さんにも会えてよかったです。
