Hey, so last weekend I ended up watching the Nasa SpaceX launch live on tv. This was a very important mission at it marks the first time humans have left the US to reach low-Earth orbit in almost nine years. It is also very important as it sees a shift to the commercialisation of human space transportation.

The two American astronaughts lifted off at 3:22 pm from Florida all the way to the International Space Station. This was also the same place where Apollo missions and the space shuttles had also lifted off from before in the past.However this time was different from the past, as it was the first time that a company other than NASA had built and operated the rocket and capsule. This time they were made by the billionaire Elon Musk. Elon, hopes that this will help him to pursue his dream of sending people to Mars. There were many people in attendance, including the President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

It was very exciting watching the launch. Ever since I was a kid, I had always been interested in space and hoped that one day we would be able to go to space. Now with the success of the Nasa SpaceX launch, it looks like we might be getting closer to that reality.

先週は、ナサとSpaceXのロケット打ち上げがテレビでライブ放送されているのをみました。

このロケットの重大なミッションは、まず米国から宇宙飛行士が旅立ったのは９年であること、また人を運べる宇宙船開発への一歩であったことです。

二人のアメリカ人宇宙飛行士が３時２２分にフロリダから国際宇宙ステーションへ飛び立ちました。これは昔アポロ宇宙船が打ちあがった場所と同じです。今回との違いは、ナサとは違う民間企業がロケットやカプセルの作り上げたということです。このロケットを作り上げた億満長者のイーロン・マスク氏は、このロケットにより火星にロケットで行ける未来を実現しようとしています。

私はこのロケット打ち上げに大興奮しました。子供頃、宇宙に興味をもち、いつか宇宙に行ける日を夢みていました。このＳｐａｃｅＸの打ち上げ成功によって、そんな夢みた日が近づきつつあると感じました。
