Hello everyone,

We had a great day out on Makaino Farm last Saturday. The weather was nice and warm, perfect for our picnic under the trees. Almost 30 of our students joined us for fun and games at my favorite farm in Shizuoka. After some games and fun in the play area, we sat down for our lunchbox picnic. I was really impressed by the presentation of some of our students’ lunches. I saw an apple that was sliced into the shape of a cicada. I also saw sandwiches, fruit and rice balls in beautiful arrangements around the lunch box. It reminded me of how Japanese lunchboxes became famous all over the world for their nice presentation a few years ago. My mother saw them in a magazine and asked me if everyone in Japan got their lunches in the shape of pokemon and minions. I let her know that not everyone has the time to shape food into characters! However, I was surprised to see so much nice presentation put into our students’ lunches. Once everyone was nice and full, we headed out around the farm for a scavenger hunt. It was a great way to see everything the farm had on offer. We hung out on hammocks, climbed a tower, played with sheep, ate ice cream and had a great time exploring. By the end of the day, everyone was excited to get souvenirs but I could see they were tired after a long day of playing. I’m sure many of them slept on their car journey home. Thanks to all of our students who came to make it an amazing day!

先週の土曜日、まかいの牧場で素晴らしい一日を過ごしました

暖かく気持ちのいい天気の中、木の下でのピクニックには最高の日でした。

静岡の私のお気に入りの牧場で、約30名の生徒たちが参加してくれて、ゲームや遊びを楽しみました。

遊び場でゲームをした後、お弁当を広げてピクニックをしましたが、生徒たちのお弁当の盛り付けには驚かされました。セミの形にカットされたリンゴや、きれいに飾られたサンドイッチ、果物、おにぎりなど、見ているだけで感心する内容でした

数年前に日本のお弁当の美しい盛り付けが世界中で有名になったことを思い出しました。

母が雑誌でそれを見て、「日本ではみんなポケモンやミニオンの形のお弁当を食べているの」と私に尋ねたことがあります。その時、私は「みんながそんな時間をかけているわけではないよ」と伝えましたが、今回、たくさんの生徒たちが工夫を凝らしたお弁当を持ってきているのを見て、改めて驚きました

お腹がいっぱいになった後、牧場を探検するスカベンジャーハントを楽しみました。牧場にあるものを見て回る最適なアクティビティでした。ハンモックでくつろいだり、塔に登ったり、羊と遊んだり、アイスクリームを食べたりしながら、探検を満喫しました。最後にはお土産選びでみんな盛り上がっていましたが、長い一日で疲れている様子も見受けられました。帰りの車の中では、多くの生徒が眠りに落ちていたことでしょう
