Hello everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying the nice weather outside. It seems like all of a sudden summer is here. I never would have thought I would see temperatures approaching 30 degrees in April! Most people see Canada as a cold, harsh place but that is not the case at all. While there are areas in Canada in the far north that are cold and frozen all year round, most Canadian towns and cities are much further south, nearing the border with the United States. Toronto, for example, has somewhat cold winters but in the summer temperatures often reach in the 30 degrees.

This past weekend we took advantage of the weather and the season. On Saturday we drove with the whole family to a park in west Fuji which was surrounded by beautiful, blooming cherry trees and tulip flowers. If there was anywhere in Fuji that said SPRING it was this place. After eating a delicious picnic we walked around, played catch and even climbed some trees. It has certainly been a while since I have climbed a tree!

On Sunday I was able to play in my first baseball game in Japan. I definitely showed my rust as I was very sore and sunburnt afterwards but it was fun and best of all we were the winners! So if you see a group of men playing baseball on Sundays in Fuji, look out for me and cheer us on. I know I’ll be glad to hear somebody rooting for us J

みなさん良いお天気を楽しんでいるでしょうかなんだか突然夏がやってきたかのようですね

まさか４月に気温３０度を超えるとは思ってもみませんでした！

ほとんどの人はカナダと言えば寒くて厳しい場所だと思っているようですが、そうばかりではありません。

カナダのずっと北の方の地域は一年中凍える寒さですが、ほとんどのカナダの街はアメリカ合衆国の国境に近いずっと南にあります。

たとえばトロントは冬は少し寒いですが夏には気温３０度に達します。

この土日は良いお天気と季節を活かしました。土曜には家族みんなで西富士の公園までドライブをしました。公園は美しく咲き誇る桜の木とチューリップに囲まれていました。富士に『春』というばしょがあったとしたら、それはまさにこの場所です。

おいしいピクニックの食事を食べたあと、散歩をし、キャッチボールをし、木に登ったりもしました

木に登ったのは本当に久しぶりでした！

日曜日には日本で初めて野球の試合をすることができました。とても筋肉痛になり、日焼けもして私は身体の衰えを実感しました

ですがとても楽しく、何より我々のチームが勝ちました！
