Did you enjoy the silver week holiday? Most people had two long weekends in a row! Last Monday and Friday were both national holidays, so my family and I took it easy and stayed local. I mostly stayed home or went out shopping as the weather wasn’t very good. Two typhoons passed us by over the week. While they didn’t come very close, they brought some rain and lots of thunder on Friday night. There was a very loud thunderstorm that night. I could see the flashes of lightning followed by rumbling thunder. It was so loud that rumbled lasted for about 10 seconds! The length of time between the flash and the noise became shorter until one hit right over us. I saw the flash very quickly followed by the thunder and our whole house shook. It was a little scary because my Playstation was plugged into the outlet, and I didn’t want the lightning to blow it up. Thankfully, everything survived the storm, and all was well the next day.

Yesterday was my daughter’s piano recital at Rose Theater. It took place in the chuo hall (the same hall as our speech contest in November). It was her third recital, but the first in Rose, so she was quite nervous beforehand. All kids feel the same way before a big event, especially when they are all alone on the stage. But she performed very well, and we were very proud of the months of hard work she put in practicing. All of the kids put on a great concert and should be very proud of themselves!

シルバーウィークは楽しめましたか？ほとんどの人が2週連続で長い週末を満喫されたことと思います！！

先週の月曜と金曜はどちらも祝日でしたので、地元の富士で過ごしていました。

天気もあまりよくなかったので家やショッピングセンターで休みを過ごしました。

 

2つの台風が日本に接近していたので、ほとんど台風の1週間でしたよね。

富士市には直接接近はしませんでしたが、雨や雷がひどかったですね。

特に金曜には大きな雷の音がして、光った！と思ったら雷の音がしてびっくりでした。。

 

私たちの家の近くに雷が落ちるまでの間、雷の音がする感覚が次第に短くなっていたのを感じました。

ぴかっと一瞬光ったかと思うと続けて雷の音がして家が揺れました。家のプレイステーションのコンセントが刺さったままだったので少し怖かったです。

 

みんななんとか雷雨をやり過ごすことができて、無事次の日を迎えることができました。

 

また、先日は娘のピアノの発表会がロゼシアターでありました。

中央ホールという部屋で開催されました。（私たちのスピーチコンテストが行われるのと同じ部屋です。）

3回目の発表会でしたが、彼女にとってロゼでやるのが初めてだったのでとても緊張している様子でした。

 

大きなステージで一人っきりになるので、きっとほとんどの子供たちが同じ気持ちになることでしょうね。

ところが彼女の演奏はとてもよくできており、この一カ月の練習成果が発揮できたことを嬉しく誇りに思います。

 

出場した子供たち全員がとても上手に演奏できていましたので、それぞれが自信をもってくれたらいいと思います。
