Hello everyone,

It’s raining cats and dogs today! I explained what that means a couple of weeks ago, it’s just heavy rain. It looks like the rainy season has finally kicked off. Speaking of kick-offs, the UEFA Euro 2024 began in Germany last Friday. This is the second biggest football tournament after the World cup. All of Europe’s international teams take part. However, there are so many countries in Europe that there are 53 teams altogether! So, they had a qualifying stage to get through to the final tournament. The qualifying stages and the final stages are just the same as the world cup, with group stages followed by knockout matches and a final. Unfortunately, Ireland didn’t even qualify for the final tournament, so I have no team to root for this year. There are many big teams from all over Europe, so there should be some exciting matches anyway. If you’re a fan of sport, you’re in for a treat this summer because only a week after the Euro final the Olympics begin in Paris. Ireland rarely wins medals in the Olympics, but there are always a few surprise wins. I wonder what they can win this time. Japan always has a strong team, and they pick up quite a few gold medals. There are a few sports that Japan is regularly strong in: judo, karate, wrestling (but only the women), gymnastics, table tennis, swimming and so on. Irelands regular medals, on the other hand, are only in boxing!

Here at Hario this week, we’re putting the finishing touches on the speech homework, which will be going out to all of our students at the beginning of next month. There are so many interesting topics this year. I’ve learned a lot and enjoyed getting our students perpectivees and opinions. Looking forward to beginning the speech homework.

今日は犬と猫が降ってくるような大雨です数週間前にその意味を説明しましたが、これは「激しい雨」というイディオムです。雨季がついに始まったようです。始まったと言えば、UEFAユーロ2024が先週の金曜日にドイツで開幕しました。これはワールドカップに次ぐ、2番目に大きなサッカーのトーナメントです。ヨーロッパの国際チームがすべて参加します。しかし、ヨーロッパには多くの国があるため、合計で53チームもあります！そのため、最終トーナメントに進出するための予選ステージがありました。予選ステージと最終ステージはワールドカップと同じで、グループステージに続いてノックアウトマッチと決勝が行われます。残念ながら、アイルランドは最終トーナメントにさえ出場できず、今年は応援するチームがありません。ヨーロッパ中の多くの大きなチームがあるので、どちらにしてもエキサイティングな試合があるはずです。スポーツファンなら、この夏は楽しみですね。ユーロの決勝からわずか1週間後に、オリンピックがパリで始まります。アイルランドはオリンピックでメダルを稀にしか獲得しませんが、いつもいくつかのサプライズ勝利があります。今回は何を勝ち取ることができるのか、楽しみです。日本はいつも強いチームを持っており、かなりの数の金メダルを獲得しますね。日本が定期的に強いスポーツには、柔道、空手、レスリング（女性のみ）、体操、卓球、水泳などがあります。一方、アイルランドが定期的にメダルを獲得するのはボクシングだけです
