The Festive Season is here!

Hello everyone,

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year”, as famously sung by Andy Williams. It’s December and the festive season is already in full swing here at Hario. We have our Christmas decorations up, with stars, stockings, Santas, and Christmas trees everywhere you look. How many Christmas trees can you find in Hario? The Hario Christmas party is just around the corner. Next Sunday we invite our students to join us for the big day. We’ll have games, crafts, songs and Santa might even show up with gifts! He’s very busy at this time of year, but hopefully he can take some time out of his schedule for us. If you have been a good boy or girl this year he’ll give you a present. He knows who’s been good or bad this year because he asked me for a full report on every student. You’ll have to come to the party to find out!

Christmas has become quite popular in Japan in the past few years. Aeon mall has a huge tree, it reaches up to the second floor! Kentucky Fried Chicken is getting busy for their Christmas Eve rush. We don’t eat Christmas chicken in Ireland, we have turkey. But I think the KFC Colonel mascot looks a bit like Santa, so I can see why it’s popular.

Last weekend I went to Otana waterfall in Sudogawa Valley. There is a high bridge overlooking the valley where people can go bungee jumping. It looks fun, but I wasn’t quite brave enough to try it without planning ahead. Maybe another time. The waterfall is beautiful at this time of year, with colourful foliage in the surrounding trees. It’s still not too cold in the afternoon so it’s well worth a visit now.

みなさんこんにちは、アランです。

アンディウィリアムが有名な歌で歌っているように「一年で最も素晴らしい季節です」。

１２月になりHARIOではイベントの多い季節の真っただ中です。星や、靴下、サンタ、クリスマスツリーをみんなに見えるあちこちにつけてクリスマスデコレーションを施しました。HARIOにいくつクリスマスツリーを見つけられるでしょうか？

HARIOのクリスマスパーティーはもうすぐです。次の日曜日に生徒の皆さんをその一大イベントにお招きします。

ゲームやクラフト、歌、そしてサンタさんもプレゼントをもってやってくるかもしれません！彼はこの時期とても忙しいですが、できれば私たちのためにスケジュールを空けてくれたらなと思います。もし皆さんが今年いい子にしていたら、サンタさんはきっとプレゼントをくれます。

彼は誰が今年良い子、悪い子なのか知っています。なぜなら私に全生徒のことについて全部聞いたからです。確かめにぜひ、クリスマスパーティーきてください。

この数年でクリスマスは日本でもとてもよく知られるようになりました。イオンモールには巨大なツリーがあり、その高さは二階にまで到達します。ケンタッキー・フライド・チキンはクリスマスイブで大忙しになるでしょう。アイルランドではクリスマスチキンを食べません。七面鳥を食べます。しかしKFCのカーネルおじさんのマスコットはちょっとサンタさんに見えます。なので、人気があるのもうなずけます。

先週末、私は須津川渓谷の大棚の滝へ行きました。そこには谷を見下ろせる巨大な橋があり、人々はそこでバンジージャンプができます。楽しそうに見えますが、予定もなく挑戦するほど私は勇敢ではありませんでした。たぶんまたの機会ですね。滝は今の時期が美しいです。周りの木々が紅葉しています。まだ午後もそこまで寒くなく、今訪れる価値はあります。
