Hello everyone,

With spring quickly approaching it is a very special time for us fans of a very special sport, baseball! Right now pitchers and catchers are reporting in for their preseason training and exhibition games will begin soon in America and Japan. I was lucky enough to grow up during the time when my hometown team the Toronto Blue Jays won back-to-back World Series championships in 1992 and 1993. I have been a dedicated baseball fan ever since and have been playing the sport since the age of 5.

When I was living in California the Los Angeles Dodgers signed a new Japanese player named Hideo Nomo. He played fantastically well for multiple seasons in America. Seeing him play sparked my interest in the Nippon Profession Baseball league and their own superstar players like Ichiro Suzuki and Hideki Matsui.

Now that I live in Japan I had to pick my own NPB team to follow. After watching a game last year in the Tokyo Dome between the Hanshin Tigers and Yomiuri Giants I decided I would be…a Tigers fan! Not because they won that game but because of the Tigers fans who cheered and sang songs so loudly the whole game and even long after the game was finished. They sang and cheered until the stadium was closing and security asked everyone to leave. That’s the sign of true passion for your team!

So soon we will be welcoming spring and a new season of baseball! Will Ichiro come back to play in Japan? How will Ohtani do with the Los Angeles Angels? Oh and GO TIGERS!

春が近づいてきていますね。野球ファンにとっては待ちにまった季節です

今のこの時期、プロ野球選手たちは自主トレをしています。そしてもうすぐ日本でもアメリカでも開幕戦がはじまります。

私が子供のころ、私の故郷のトロント　ブルージェイズが１９９２年、１９９３年の連続でワールドシリーズで優勝をしました。

そしてその頃から（５才）、から私は野球をし、野球ファン人生です。

私がカリフォルニアに住んでいたとき、日本人選手の野茂英雄選手がロジャーズを契約を結びました。彼は、それから素晴らしい活躍をしました。彼により、私は日本の野球や、日本人のイチローや松井秀樹選手にも注目するようになりました。

そして今は日本に住んでいるので、日本の野球チームを観戦しなければ。詳しくならなければ

去年、東京ドームで行われた阪神と巨人の試合をみて、私は阪神ファン​​​​​​​になりました。彼らが試合に勝ったからではなく、阪神ファンの応援がすごかったからです。彼らは、試合が終わってもまだ歌い続け、スタジアムが閉まり警備員達が退去を命じるまでも歌い続けていました。すごい情熱を感じました。

もうすぐ春と野球のシーズンがきます。イチローは日本に戻ってくるのでしょうか。大谷はエンジェルスでどのような活躍をするのでしょうか。そして頑張れ、阪神！！！
