Have you seen inside Hario this week? It looks very spooky in here! There are ghosts, jack-o’-lanterns, witches and skeletons all over the place. That’s because it’s October and Halloween is on the way! At the end of the month all of the staff and students here will dress up in scary or funny costumes and say, “Trick or treat!” I’m looking forward to the fun already. I can’t wait to see what costume ideas our students have this year. Every year there are some hilarious characters. So everyone remember to get working your costumes! Next Monday Japan celebrates Health and Sports Day. This day promotes healthy and active lifestyles. The 10th of October in 1964 was the opening day of the Tokyo Olympics. To commemorate the first ever Olympic games to take place in Asia, this date was made a national holiday. In 2000, the ‘Happy Monday’ system for public holidays in Japan moved the holiday to its current date of the second Monday of October. Good luck to all of our students who are taking part next week! I wonder if we will see any of them at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
