Hello everyone,

Are you looking forward to the long weekend? This weekend many of us have an extra day off on Monday because it’s “Umi no hi” or “sea day”. The ocean is an important part of Japanese life and we see that in the food. There is so much fantastic seafood available in this country. I was always surprised by the variety of fish and seafood that we have here. It’s not so readily available in other countries, so make the most of it and be thankful for Japan’s rich ocean next Monday. There have been a few holidays that were changed by the Japanese government to Monday in recent years. This is called the “Happy Monday” system and created three-day weekends for people with five-day work weeks. It makes people’s weekends a bit happier! Just watch out for traffic, because many people will decide to go on a trip somewhere during the long weekend.

Here at Hario this week, we are busy putting together the speech homework for our students. Each student who wrote a speech will get an exclusive Hario speech file with a CD. 今週はいつもより長い週末になりますが楽しみですか月曜日は海の日ということで多くの方がお休みかと思います。日本人の暮らしにとっては海は重要な部分です。食事をみればそれがわかりますね。この国では多くのシーフードを食べることができます。いつもその数の多さに驚かされます
他国ではこれほど多くは食べられませんから次の海の日は是非とも海に感謝しましょう。
最近は政府により、月曜日が祝日に変わった月曜日があります。これはハッピーマンデーと呼ばれ、3連休の週末をとれるように作られました。これにより週末が少しハッピーになりますこのような週末はお出かけの際は交通情報にお気を付けください。皆さんお出かけになられると思いますから。
