With Hario`s camping trip just a few days away I`m happy to say that the weather report for this weekend is dry and sunny. We`re making the final preparations for the trip now, it promises to be a great weekend. This month has also been ideal weather for tennis, so I`ve started playing at the courts in Atsuhara. I used to play every week when I was younger, but that was about 20 years ago so it`s slowly coming back to me. It`s funny how I can remember the basics from so long ago. I wonder if I can ever get as good as I used to be. You know what they say: “Practice makes perfect”, so I`ll be making use of the tennis courts here as much as I can. I was always into competitive sports when I was younger. I played tennis, basketball and soccer regularly both in school and after school. They faded away after I finished school and I didn`t get to play as much as I`d like. In particular I`d like to start playing soccer again, but I think 33 is around retirement age for players these days! I`m better off watching football from the safety of my sofa for the moment. The World Cup is just around the corner. Ireland didn`t qualify so I`ll be cheering on Japan. They have a pretty tough group with Ivory Coast, Greece and Colombia. Only two teams can make it to the next round. Go Japan!

みなさん、こんにちは。

あと数日で、HARIOイングリッシュスクール のキャンプですね。

天気がよさそうでほっとしました。

我々は、キャンプの最終準備におわれています。参加する生徒さんの皆さんには、きっと最高の週末になることでしょう。

また、今月の天気は、テニスには、もってこいです。先週は厚原でテニスをしました。

昔は、毎週のようにテニスをしていました。でも、もう２０年ほど前のことです。

ちょっとずつではありますが、ブランクを取り戻しつつありますが、ずいぶん経っても覚えているものですね。

このまま練習を続けていれば、昔のころのようにうまくできるようになるのかなと考えています。

よく言いますよね。「継続は力なり」と。なので、できる限り、あいている時間はテニスをしたいと思います。

若いころは、スポーツのこととなると負けず嫌いでした。テニス、バスケット、サッカーをやっていました。でも社会人になると、スポーツへの興味は薄れていきました。その中でもサッカーはやり始めたいと思っているのですが、３３歳というのは、引退の年齢ですよね。

安全を考えて、今は、ソファーでゆっくりとサッカー観戦をしている方がいいのかもしれません。

ワールドカップが来月から始まります。アイルランドは、出場することができませんでした。

だから、私は日本を応援しようと思っています。日本が入っているグループは強豪のギリシャとコロンビアがいますね。次にすすめるのは、グループで２チームだけです。

日本、がんばれ！
