Hi everyone,

How’s your week so far? The cherry blossoms may have all fallen but the lovely spring weather is continuing here in Fuji. Many of our students have started new schools. Particularly, lots of our students have gone from elementary school to junior high school this year. They’ve started coming to Hario English School in their new school uniforms. It’s interesting to see their reactions. Some are postive and like their new uniforms but many are negative. Most students are wearing uniforms that are large for them so they can grow into them and not have to buy a new uniform again later. My mother used to do this with me and my school uniforms and shoes. I was talking to Alan about this. He said his mother still bought him clothes bigger than his size when he was in his 20s. She thought he would bulk out. I think maybe English is like this. At first when you learn new vocabulary or language it seems strange and too big for you. But as you practice and use it you begin to master it and it seems to fit.

みなさん、こんにちは。

ご機嫌いかがですか。もう桜はほとんどちってしまいましたが、春の陽気です。

生徒さん達もみな、新しい学校、生活が始まりましたね。

特に今年は、小学校を卒業して新中学生になった生徒さんがたくさんいます。

彼らは、HARIO に制服でくるようになりました。

そのリアクションがさまざまで面白いです。

ある生徒さんは、とても制服が気に入っていて、ある生徒さんはダサくて気に入らないといいます。

生徒さん達は、大きくなってもいいようにブカブカの制服をきています。

私の母も、私が学生の頃は同じようにブカブカのものを着せていました。

この事をアランに話すと、アランのお母さんは、大きいサイズを買う癖がついてしまい、彼が２０代になってさえも、彼に大きなサイズの服を買っていたそうです。彼がそれ以上に大きくなると思ったのかもしれません。

英語にも同じようなことが言えます。

最初は、新しい単語や言語を学ぶのは、ちょっと奇妙な感じがします。自分には大きすぎる、難しすぎるなんて思うかもしれません。しかし、英語の練習を続け、英語を使い続けると、それが徐々に自分に馴染んでいきます。
