Hello everyone,

Our winter grammar classes are almost coming to an end. Our students have worked hard all through the holiday, and now that they are back in school they can still come to Hario to get a little more extra practice at the weekend. Last Saturday I taught an eiken pre-1st grammar class. It’s very daunting to students who have just passed the 2nd grade. Pre-1st is extremely advanced in comparison. You will find articles from scientific journals and other professional publications. The topics in the reading section can cover anything, from historical events to human psychology, for example. For any reader, it’s their first time to read about such topics, so we need to understand the text as much as possible. There is so much more advanced vocabulary to learn that it takes everyone several years of hard study to get to the level they need. But in the end, it’s worth it to get the pre-1st grade because it confirms that you are truly fluent at the English language. We have had several students pass it last year and I’m so proud of them. They have accomplished something that is usually only attempted by university students and adults. Yet our students managed to pass it while still at school. So to all of our students who are currently striving for the next level of eiken, you can do it!

Our spring campaign kicks off in February. That’s less than two weeks away! I’m looking forward to meeting our new students. I can’t wait to start their English studies for the first time. Come on over the Hario in February!

みなさん、こんにちは。

冬期講習がもうすぐ最終日を迎えます。生徒達は冬休み中も勉強に励み、年が明け学校が始まり、HARIOでは週末にさらに勉強を重ねています。先週の土曜日に英検®準１級の対策授業がありました。英検®２級を合格したばかりの生徒達にとっては、気が遠くなるほど難しい問題だったかもしれません。２級と準１級では大きなレベル差があります。準１級では化学雑誌や専門誌などの記事がでてきたり、長文では歴史、心理学などトピックがでてきたりと。でてくる単語を習得するだけでも数年はかかるでしょう。でも高い英語レベルを証明するのには、準１級は取得する価値が大いにあります。去年、ハリオでは５名の生徒が準１級に合格しました。すばらしい事だと思います。彼らを誇りに思います。

来月から「入会キャンペーン」が始まります。もう２週間もありません。新しい生徒の皆さんに会えるのを楽しみにしています。是非、これをご覧の皆さんもキャンペーンに参加してくださいね。
