Hello everyone!

 

I hope you all had a good Golden Week! I’ve heard from students who went camping, had BBQs, or even stayed home to play some games, watch TV or read a good book. So long as you are having fun and relaxing, any way you spend your free time is great.

 

Being from Canada, most people would expect me to be an ice hockey fan. Canada is famous for ice hockey as some of the best players in the world now and in history have been from my country. It’s the most popular sport in Canada by far, much moreso than even my favourtie sport, baseball. But why am I talking about ice hockey during spring? Because the championship tournament will be starting soon!

 

My hometown team is the very popular Toronto Maple Leafs. They have been a professional team since 1917 and have won the championship 13 times! Only 1 other team has won more championships. Unfortunately the last time they won the famous Stanley Cup was in 1967 when even my father was just a little boy. This year they have a chance at being the #1 overall team before the playoff tournament starts so many fans are very excited. Go Leafs Go!

ゴールデンウィークはいかがでしたか。

生徒達は、キャンプやバーベキューをしたり、家でゲームやテレビ、読書をしたりとそれぞれのお休みを楽しんでようです。

私の故郷のカナダでは、ほとんどの人がアイスホッケーのファンです。

カナダにはアイスホッケーの世界的選手が何人もいます。アイスホッケーは、私の好きな野球よりも人気があるスポーツです。

でもこんな春になぜ私がアイスホッケーの話をするか。それは、アイスホッケーのチャンピオンシップがはじまるからです

私のホームタウンであるトロントは、Maple Leafsというチームがあります。１９１７年に設立されたチームで、チャンピオンシップには、１３回優勝していますが、最後に優勝したのは、１９６７年で私の父が小さかった頃です。優勝からずいぶん年月がたっていますが、今年は何とか勝てるのではと、ファンが楽しみしているのです。がんばれ、Leafs
