How are you with new technology?

Hello everyone,

How are you coping with the heat recently? It’s been extremely hot and humid this week, so I’ve mostly been staying in air-conditioned rooms. Here at Hario, we have made the switch to online classes. What do you think of online lessons? They have many benefits apart from just safety from the pandemic. We can save time on travelling, communicate from anywhere in the world, and use technology to play games, videos and sounds in our classes. There is a lot of new things to learn when teaching online. I’m always surprised how good kids are with technology these days. Unlike us, they grew up with these devices in their homes. I remember seeing my daughter unlock my smartphone and open youtube when she was one year old! When kids are around gadgets and other devices from birth, they can learn to use them naturally. My family got their first computer when I was 10 years old. Even using a mouse and keyboard were totally new to me. Of course, I learned how to use it so I could play games! While it took a while for 10-year-old me to learn how to use a PC, it was even more daunting for my parents. Their generation grew up without computers, so it was a totally new concept for them. Things that seemed simple to me were hard for them to understand. Now many years later, my mother can use the home PC well enough to make video calls to me every week. She even bought a tablet computer as a birthday present for my Dad. However, he is no good with new technology, so only my mother uses it! How are you with new technology?

最近の暑さにどう対処していますか？今週はとても蒸し暑いので、ほとんどエアコンの効いた部屋にいます。

ハリオでは、今週からすべてのグループレッスンがオンライン授業に切り替えられました。皆さんは、オンライン授業についてどう思いますかオンライン授業には、コロナ禍の中での安全確保だけでなく、多くのメリットがありますまず、移動の時間が節約でき、世界中のどこからでもコミュニケーションをとることができ、テクノロジーを使用してクラスでゲーム、ビデオ、音楽を再生できます。オンライン授業で教えるときには、学ぶべき新しいことがたくさんあります。私はいつも、子供達の最新技術への対応の速さに驚きます。私たちとは異なり、彼らは家でこれらのデバイスを使って育ちました。娘が1歳のときにスマートフォンのロックを解除してYouTubeを開いたのを見たのを覚えています。子供が生まれたときからガジェットやその他のデバイスの周りにいると、彼らはそれらを自然に使用することを学ぶことができます。私の家族は私が10歳のときに最初のコンピューターを手に入れました。マウスとキーボードを使用することさえ、私にとって全く新しいものでした。もちろん、ゲームができるように使い方を学びました 10歳の私はパソコンの使い方を学ぶのに少し時間がかかりましたが、両親にとってはさらに大変でした。彼らはコンピューターなしで育ったので、彼らには全く新しい概念でした。私には単純に思えたことが、彼らには理解しにくかったのです。何年も経った今、母は自宅のPCを十分に活用して、毎週ビデオ通話をすることができます。また母は父への誕生日プレゼントに、タブレットを購入しました。しかし、父は新しい技術が苦手なので、結局、母だけが使っています。皆さんは、新しいテクノロジーに対応できていますか
