Hario English School Speech Contest 2014

Hello everyone,

First of all, a big thanks to everyone who attended Hario`s Speech Contest 2014 last Saturday. The day was a great success, and we had a good turnout of people there. We had extra help from five of our students in the sixth grade who are speech contest veterans. This was their final year to take part in the speech contest so they were happy to help. So a big thanks to all of them, it`s fantastic to have students who are enthusiastic about what we do here. I think that the speeches were even better this year, especially in terms of pronunciation and intonation. The judges told me that they were very impressed overall. They had a tough time choosing winners because the standard was so high this year. We were all further entertained by the 10th rank songs, and videos made by our staff. Kevin’s video of Hario Camp back in May showed how much fun the kids had, so I think we`ll have even more participants next year.
After the contest we went to Sakana yadojo for a meal of sashimi, fried fish and a well-earned beer. Thanks to Sachiyo-san for the delicious dinner. You can see in the photo there was liquid nitrogen in the shell beside the fish which made a cool mist effect. I`m glad everyone had a good time and we`re all well rested after our day off on Monday.

みなさんこんにちは、

まず初めに、先週の土曜日に行われたハリオのスピーチコンテストに参加していただいたすべての皆様、ほんとうにありがとうございました。たくさんの方々にお越しいただき、とても充実した一日でした。今年はスピーチコンテストのベテランである、5人の6年生にもお手伝いをお願いしました。今回が彼らにとって最後のスピーチコンテストであり、お手伝いを快く引き受けてくれました。手伝ってくれたみんな、本当にありがとう。一緒に準備ができて、本当に素晴らしい機会となりました。
今年はスピーチも、特に発音やイントネーションの項目がとても良く出来ていたと思います。審査員たちもとても感動したと言っていました今年はレベルがとても高かったので、審査員たちにとって入賞者を決めるのはとても難しかったようです。
また、PLS10級の生徒さんたちによる発表や、私たちスタッフが作ったビデオもとても楽しいものでした。ケビンが作った、5月に行われたハリオキャンプのビデオからは、子供たちがキャンプを本当に楽しんだ様子を見ることができたので、来年はもっと参加者が増えてくれることと思います。
コンテストの後にはさかなや道場さんへ行き、お刺身や魚料理、ビールなどをいただきました。サチヨさん、おいしいディナーをごちそうさまでした。写真を見て下さい！貝殻からドライアイスの煙が出ているでしょ！
全員が良い時間を過ごすことができ、月曜日までのお休みの間はゆっくり休むことができてよかったです。
