Hello everyone,

I hope you had an enjoyable silver week break. Like most of our students, I stayed in during the holiday. I spent time with my family and took care of my daughter after school. I was able to get my first covid vaccine on the first Sunday of our vacation. It’s been a long wait because Japan had a slower vaccine roll-out than many other countries. I was glad to get the first step over with. It was a surprisingly quick process, it only took 20 minutes and I was done. My shoulder was a little sore for a few days after. It felt stiff like I had exercised the previous day. Now I’m waiting a few weeks until I get my second shot. It’s common to feel unwell after the second one. I have heard from a few people that they had a fever for one day after. Luckily, I reserved my second shot for a weekend day, so I can relax at home if I feel unwell. After that, it will be a great relief to finally feel safer against the virus. Once enough people get vaccinated, the cases will reduce and we can begin to get back to normal. Did you know that 2,600,000,000 people in the world are now fully vaccinated? 2.6 billion is 33% of the world population! It’s amazing how many they were able to get through this year. There is still a long way to go for many countries. So good luck to everyone. What are you looking forward to doing once the pandemic is over?

みなさん、こんにちは。アランです。

楽しいシルバーウィークを過ごせましたか。

生徒達と同じように、私も休暇中は家で過ごしました。家族と一緒に時間を過ごし、放課後は娘の世話をしました。

また、シルバーウィーク中に、初めてのワクチンを接種することができました日本は他国よりもワクチンの展開が遅かったため、

我々は長い間待たされていました。最初の一歩を踏み出すことができてうれしかったです。

ワクチン接種じたいは、驚くほど迅速なプロセスでした、たった20分ほどで終わりました。そして数日後、肩が少し痛くなりました。

二回目の接種までは、あと数週間あります。 2回目は体調が悪くなる人が多いです。数人の友人から、次の日に熱が出たと聞ききました。幸い、二回目の接種は週末に予約したので、気分が悪くても家でくつろげます。

接種の後、「安全である」と感じることは大きな安堵となるでしょう。ワクチン接種が進めば、症例は減少し、通常の状態に戻ることができます。世界で26億人が完全にワクチン接種されていることをご存知ですか？ 26億人は世界人口の33％です！驚くべきことです。

それでも、まだまだ長い道のりがあります。
