Hello everyone,

It’s November, and the cool weather is creeping in. It will be winter soon, but today it’s unusually warm for the month. We had an awesome Halloween week last week. Thanks to all of our students for wearing such scary and funny costumes. We had a great time getting photos and our students got the chance to “trick or treat”.I have heard that Halloween parties are becoming more popular in Japan in recent years. On TV we see a huge party in Shibuya every year. Even with the pandemic it still went ahead in recent years. Hopefully this time next year the pandemic will have died down and people can go out to more events. In some countries such as Ireland and the U.K., almost all of the pandemic rules have finished. There are no more shutdowns and events are opening back up. For example, people can attend sporting events and concerts again. In Ireland people have to show their vaccine passport to enter any restaurant, bar or concert. My father is happy he can get a haircut again, as barbers can open now. They have to prove that they are fully vaccinated just to enter. I have a document that says I’m vaccinated, but I have never had to show it here in Japan. The rules aren’t as strict here as in other countries. I remember last year in the first months of the pandemic, when an Italian politician went viral for posting an angry video complaining about the people in his town going outside. He shouted at them to stay inside and threatened going after them with a flamethrower. It was a different time before the vaccines. People are beginning to feel safe again. Have a great month, and remember that the Speech Contest is only 20 days away!

みなさん、こんにちは。アランです。

もう１１月、涼しくなってきました。冬ももうすぐかもしれませんが、まだ温かいです。

先週は素晴らしいハロウィンウィークとなりました。コスチュームを着て来てくれた生徒達、ありがとう。

たくさん写真をとり、「Trick or Treat」の習慣を習いましたね。

最近では、日本でもハロウィンパーティが流行っていると聞きました。毎年、渋谷はすごいです。

来年以降は、コロナが終息し、ハロウィンやその他のイベントに人々がいけることを願います。

アイルランドやUKのようないくつかの国では、ほとんどのコロナによる制限がなくなりました。

シャットダウンもなく、イベントも開催されています。スポーツイベントやコンサートも再開されました。アイルランドではワクチンパスポートがあると、どんなレストランやバー、コンサートに行くことができます。私の父はやっと理容室にいけてよろこんでいます。

私もワクチンパスポートを日本でもっていますが、まだ一度も利用する場に出くわしていません。日本は他の国に比べるとルールが厳しくありません。まだコロナ感染が拡大して間もなくの頃、イタリアの政治家が住民が外出することに文句を叫ぶというビデオがばずっていたのを覚えています。この時はワクチン接種も考えられない時期でした。今では人々は安全を取り戻しています。

ということで、今月も良い日をお過ごしください。そしてスピーチコンテストまであと２０日です。
