Hello everyone,

Did you eat any chocolate last weekend like I suggested? Even though I didn’t have any Easter eggs I still had chocolate cake on our trip to Izu last weekend. We stayed near Omuroyama, which is a very interesting small mountain. It has no trees, only grass, all over the mountain. We took a chairlift up to the top and the views were amazing. In the evening we went to Granpal theme park, which had an illumination event. The entire theme park was covered in lights and it was very impressive. I think it was even more spectacular then the illumination in Gotemba last winter. Our hotel was near Shaboten zoo, so our room had flamingos on the wallpaper and stuffed monkeys hanging from the ceiling. It was a nice surprise to have such an interesting room! We went to the zoo on Sunday and you can get up close to the animals and walk in to some of their enclosures. You can go into the kangaroos, emus, maras (one of them kept biting my umbrella) and the bird enclosure. Storks followed us around the bird house so it was a little scary! The zoo, Granpal and Omuroyama are all close together so it’s a great area to stay in for a weekend trip. We can’t travel far since the covid situation began so I’m thankful we have some nice areas to visit here in Shizuoka.

Here at Hario something big is beginning today. Do you know what it is? That’s right! We are giving out the speech composition sheets to our students today. Students can begin writing their speech now and give it to us after Golden Week. Make it as interesting as you can! Good luck.

みなさん、こんにちは。アランです。

先週はチョコレートをたべましたか。

私はまだイースターエッグを食べていませんが、先週伊豆の旅行でチョコレートケーキを食べました。

大室山という小さな山へ行きましたが、そこには木はなく山は芝生に覆われていました

ロープウェイで登った山からの眺めは最高でした。

夕方にはグランパル公園にいき、イルミネーションをみました。

グランパル公園すべてがライトで飾られていました。

個人的には、御殿場のイルミテーションよりこちらのが壮観だと思いました。

私たちがステイしたホテルは、シャボテン動物園の近くにあったので、壁紙にはフラミンゴが描かれ

天井からぬいぐるみがぶらさがっていました。

面白い部屋に泊まれていいサプライズでした。

日曜日にはその動物園にいきました。

カンガルー、エミュー、マラス、鳥などのおりには、入ることができます。

マラスには傘をかまれましたが･･･

動物園、グランパル、大室山はすべて近くにあるので、週末の旅行に滞在するのに最適なエリアです。

コロナ禍が始まってから遠くまで行けないので、ここ静岡に素敵なエリアがあるのはありがたいです。
