Hello everyone,

I can hardly believe it’s late November right now. It’s so warm today it doesn’t feel like Christmas is just around the corner. We’ve had unusually warm weather this week, and I’m glad we can have warm days so late in the year. In Ireland it starts getting cold September, so I’m used to November being very cold. Some people would like it to stay warm for the long weekend. Next Monday is a national holiday, Labour Thanksgiving Day, which is a day to celebrate labour and production. On this day early-grade elementary students often create drawings for the holiday and give them as gifts to local kobans (neighborhood police stations).

Here at Hario we’re getting the speech contest DVD ready. It’s in production now, so you’ll have to wait a little longer to re-live the magic of the speech contest earlier this month. It was a wonderful day with so many great memories. I hope you’re looking forward to watching it. It can be very nerve-wracking to be on such a big stage as Rose theater all by yourself, but I thought our students handled the pressure very well. I think the most nervous part of a performance is the waiting beforehand. When you are counting down the minutes to going out on stage, that’s when the nerves really take over. Once you actually start the performance, all of the practice kicks in and you can settle into it. That’s how I think our students felt on the day. They looked nervous when they first arrived, but afterwards they were relaxed and so happy. So watch out for the release of the DVD, coming soon!
