How’s your week? Did you attend to our annual speech contest last Saturday? If you did, thank you for coming. It was a great success and a brilliant showcase for our talented students and this school. Let me repeat some thanks. The 3 judges who kindly came did a great job. We were helped by four high school students on the day. Two of our junior high school students were the MCs. The opening and closing addresses were given by two 6th graders in their final year as participants in the speech contest. One of our junior high school students gave a special speech, the same one he gave at the Shizuoka Prefecture Junior High School Contest. He did a really great job and impressed us and gave our younger students something to aim for in the future. Our youngest students did a song and dance performance. They really sang well. I was so proud of them to do such a good performance in front of 300 people without looking nervous or shy. The audience were up on their feet, clapping and joining in by the end of our last song, ‘Twist and Shout’ by the Beatles. Thanks for joining in! Finally, thank you to the nearly 40 students who gave speeches. The quality was really high and we could all see how hard they practiced. It’s great that they used this opportunity to show their English and presentation skills and to tell us about their lives and dreams. Well done, everyone. I’m really proud of you.
I’m putting together the DVD now so I’ve had a look back. It was a really good show. Also the DVD will include an opening movie and a music video made by the staff here. It will be on sale soon.
Thanks for reading. Enjoy the 3 day weekend. I hope you do something fun.
