I tried badminton for the first time last Saturday. We celebrated Kevin’s birthday by playing in the Obuchi sport’s center. Like any new sport, it was difficult at first, but you can pick it up pretty quickly and I was able to play games after some practice. I think it’s easier to pick up than tennis. We played a little tournament, Kevin even brought some medals! Unfortunately, I didn’t win anything, but well done to Kevin for taking home the bronze. I’d like to try badminton again someday, after my arm stops hurting! If I try any new activity, my muscles hurt for days. I must be getting old!
Last weekend at Hario many of our students took the Eiken test. I hope that they get the results they deserve for their hard work and effort. Sometimes it takes several attempts to pass an Eiken grade, but that makes it even more fulfilling when they finally pass. There’s a popular saying in English, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” I think all languages have their own similar saying that motivates people to keep on trying to achieve their goals. It’s an important life lesson. Never give up!
