Hello everyone,

It’s Obon week next week! What are your plans for the holiday? As you may have heard I’m going to jet off to Ireland on Sunday. I have to get up at around 2AM on Sunday morning to catch a bus to Narita. I’m not a morning person so I hope I can get some sleep on the bus or during the flight. There are no direct flights to Ireland, so I always have to get two flights home. This time I’ll be going via Amsterdam. There’s a lot of waiting around at airports so it usually takes around 17 hours in total to get to Dublin. It’s a long journey, but just think of how long it would have taken 100 years ago. We’re lucky to have affordable jet travel these days.

I went to Fujinomiya last weekend and saw their local summer festival. I learned that every town and city in Japan has their own individual song and dance. They hold a parade during the festival where the locals perform the dance. We saw some amazing paper artwork along the streets. I really enjoy the summer festivities around the country at this time of year.

みなさんこんにちは。

来週はお盆休みですね。お休みの予定はお決まりですかご存知の方もいるかもしれませんが、私は日曜日にアイルランドへ戻る予定です成田行きのバスに乗る為には夜中2時頃に起きなければなりません。私は朝型の人間ではないので眠くなるかと思いますが、バスや飛行機の中でたくさん寝たいと思います。アイルランドに行くには直行便はありませんので帰る時はいつも乗継しなければなりません

今回はアムステルダムの経由で戻ることになっています。空港での待ち時間が長いため、ダブリンに戻る時はいつも17時間程掛かります。長い旅路ですが100年前はどのくらい長くかかったかと考えると、今日ジェット機で旅行ができる私達はとてもラッキーだと思います

先週末は富士宮の夏祭りを見に行ってきました。そして日本の各地域にはその土地独自の歌や踊りがあることを初めて知りました。祭りの会場では凄い紙細工の店もあり、この時期は本当に色々な所で夏祭りを楽しむ事ができ、最高です
