Golden Week ゴールデンウィーク

Hello everyone,

I hope you’re enjoying the warm weather after all the rain we had last week. After all the rain we found some dandelions and mushrooms growing in Hario’s parking lot. It feels like summer already!
I associate the start of summer with Golden Week, which begins next week. Each day of Golden Week is a specific public holiday. April 29th is Showa day, May 3rd is Constitution Memorial Day, May 4th is Greenery Day, and May 5th is Children’s Day, also customarily known as Boys’ Day. It was originally called Boys’ Day but has recently been changed to Childrens’ Day to celebrate the happiness of all children. If you look outside during the week you can see big flags shaped like fish. Families raise the carp-shaped “koinobori” flags outside their houses. Legend has it that carp can swim upstream and turn into dragons. When the flags blow in the wind it looks like they are swimming. They are symbolic and represent the children growing up to be strong and healthy.

みなさん、こんにちは。

先週のぐずついた天気から一転、今週はいい天気になっていますね

晴れの日が続いている今日、HARIO の駐車場にタンポポときのこを見つけました

来週からゴールデンウィークが始まりますが、私はゴールデンウィークが始まると夏の始まりという感じがします。

ゴールデンウィークは祝日から成っていますが、4月29日が昭和の日、5月3日が憲法記念日、5月4日がみどりの日、そして5月5日が子供の日です。元々、子供の日は男の子の節句でしたが、最近になり全ての子供達の幸せを祝う祝日となりました。ゴールデンウィークには外を見ると魚の形をした旗”こいのぼり”を見ることが出来ますご家族の方々はこいのぼりをあげますが、鯉は流れに遡って泳ぐことができ、竜に変身するという伝説からこの習慣ができたようです。風が吹くと、本当に泳いでいる様に見えます。
