Hello everyone,

I have great news for you all, my wife gave birth to our baby daughter, Midoriko today. Mother and baby are doing very well and I`m a super happy and proud father. She is our first child so I have a lot to learn about babies!

In other news, it`s here at last, the World Cup kicks off tomorrow! It seems like the last four years have flown by. It opens tomorrow with the hosts and hot favourites Brazil versus Croatia. Sadly, Ireland didn`t qualify this time, so I will be supporting my second home, Japan. The first game for Japan is against the Ivory Coast on Sunday at 10am. The Ivory Coast are a strong African side but I think Japan can edge out a win. Japans other rivals in the group are Columbia and Greece. Columbia are said to be particularly strong this year, but I think Japan should beat Greece to get through the group stages. Then it`s on to the exciting knock out stages, how far can they go this year? Good luck Japan!

すばらしいお知らせがあります。妻が本日、女の子を出産しました。名前は「みどりこ」です。母子ともに健康で私は本当に幸せな父親です。彼女が私たちの初めての子供なので、赤ちゃんについて学ばなければいけないことがたくさんあります！

また、ついに明日からワールドカップが始まります！この4年間があっという間だったように感じます。明日は、ホストであるブラジルと優勝候補のクロアチア戦です。×　残念ながらアイルランドは今回は出場できなかったので、私の第２の故郷である日本を応援したいと思います。日本の初戦は、対コートジボワールで、日曜10時からです。コートジボワールはアフリカの強敵ですが、私は日本が勝利できると思います。グループの中での他のライバルはコロンビアとギリシャです。コロンビアは今年は特に強いといわれていますが、日本はギリシャに勝ち、トーナメントに進むはずです。今年はどこまでいけるでしょうか。
