How was your Golden Week?

Hello everyone,

I hope you had an enjoyable and relaxing Golden Week. It’s the time of the year to go out and enjoy the warmer weather. I even got a little sun burnt on a trip to Tokyo last Monday. It wasn’t bad sun burn or anything, just a little red patch on my arm, which has faded away. My skin doesn’t tan easily, so while the rest of my Japanese family can get a nice bronze tan after the sun, I turn pink! However, we are all careful and wear plenty of sun screen, so it’s rare for any of us to change color in the sunny months. I even spray sunscreen on the top of my head because somehow the sunlight can get to my head. I don’t know how! We checked out the Toyosu fish market in Tokyo last Monday. The market is in Tokyo Bay, and replaces the historic Tsukiji fish market, which now is a major tourist attraction. When it opened on 2018, it became the largest wholesale fish market in the world. There is plenty of great food available in stalls there, not just fish. I recommend trying the fried beef from this area. Of course, it’s famous for sea food, so it’s well worth trying the fish too.

Now that we’re back to work and our students are back to school, it’s been great hearing about what our students got up to during the holiday. So, tell me all about your golden week!

楽しく、リラックスしたゴールデンウィークを過ごされましたか

この時期は、暖かい天気を楽しむために外出するのにぴったりですよね。

先週の月曜日に東京への小旅行で少し日焼けしてしまいました。でも、ひどい日焼けではなく、腕に少し赤くなる程度のものでしたそれももう消えました私の肌はあまり日に焼けないので、私の日本の家族が綺麗なブロンズ色に焼ける一方で、私はピンク色になるんですでも、みんな日焼け止めをたっぷり使うので、夏の日差しの中で肌の色が変わるのは珍しいです。なんと、頭の上にも日焼け止めをスプレーしています。どうやら頭頂部にも太陽の光が届くみたいで！なぜだかは分かりませんが

先週の月曜日には、東京の豊洲市場を訪れました。この市場は東京湾にあり、今は観光名所となっている歴史的な築地市場に代わる存在です。2018年にオープンした際、世界最大の卸売市場となりました。魚以外にも美味しい料理を提供する屋台がたくさんあります。地域で有名な揚げ牛肉をぜひ試してみてください。そしてもちろん、海鮮が有名なので魚も味わう価値があります
