Hello everyone,

How are you doing? Recently there have been a lot of natural disasters and extreme weather. There were landslides in Hiroshima recently and the eruption of Mt Ontake. A typhoon caused a lot of damage in Shizuoka last weekend and another is on its way. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence but take care out there.

 

みなさん、こんにちは。

最近は天災やすさまじい天候が多いですね。広島での地滑り、御嶽山の噴火など。

先週末は台風が静岡に大きな被害を残し、そしてまた別の台風が接近していますね。

これらは偶然だと思いますが、お気を付け下さい。

 

 

The speech contest is next month and so we will choose which students will be invited the week after next. To try to be as fair as possible, we are recording videos of our students’ speeches so we can decide which are the best. For time reasons, only about a third of the students can do their speeches at the speech contest. However, all of our students will perform their speeches in class in the next series of parents’ day lessons. Like in previous years, the speech contest winners will be decided by an expert panel of judges and the first prize winner gets a Disneyland ticket. However, the real prize is that by doing the speech homework you can learn a lot of English: new vocabulary personal to you, pronuncation practice, public speaking skills to name some of them.

Thank you to alll our students for the hard work you’ve done for your speech homework. It’s really rewarding to see the speechs get better and more polished week by week.

 

スピーチコンテストが来月に迫り、再来週には出場者が決まる予定です。選考に公平性を保つため、すべてのスピーチをビデオ録画しています。コンテストの時間の都合上、スピーチコンテストに参加できるのは全体の1/3の生徒さんとなります。しかし、スピーチホームワークを行っているすべての生徒さんは11月に予定している授業参観でご自身のスピーチを発表して頂きます

スピーチコンテストでは毎年と同じようにネイティブスピーカーの外国人審査員を招き、優勝者を決めます。そして優勝された生徒さんには東京ディズニーランドのチケットが贈呈されます。

しかし、本当の”賞”というのはスピーチホームワークを通して身に着ける沢山の英語という事だと思います「一人、一人違う新出単語」「発音練習」「人前で話す力」など。

生徒のみなさん、スピーチの練習ここまで凄くがんばってくれています。ありがとう。

 

毎週、みなさんのスピーチが磨かれ良くなっていくのを見ると、とても嬉しく感じます
