Hello everyone,

As I was cycling to work this morning I saw sakura petals along the side of the street, the sign that hanami is here. It`s been blossoming at different times all around Japan and now it`s arrived in Fuji. At this time of the year people flock to parks for hanami parties under the trees in a centuries old tradition. Sometimes the cherry blossom petals are falling so heavily it looks like snow! It`s great warm weather at the moment, perfect for a picnic.

This month also sees the celebration of the western tradition called Easter Sunday. Easter falls on a different date every year due to the Christian way of calculating dates, it`s April 20th this year. It originally celebrated the story of Jesus rising from the dead, hence an egg symbolized being born again. Now people celebrate by giving each other chocolate eggs. There is an Easter rabbit, a mythical creature who hides candy eggs for children to find. People will often host Easter egg hunts in their gardens. We`ve put up some Easter decorations in Hario this week, come have a look.

みなさん、こんにちは。

今朝、自転車で出勤する道に沿って桜が咲いていました。

日本では場所それぞれ違う時期に桜が咲くそうです。

富士市に桜の開花時期がきたようです。

日本では昔から桜の木の下で花見をします。桜はときに沢山の葉が散るので、雪が降っている

ようにみえます。暖かくもなってきたので、花見のいい季節ですね。

そして今月は、西洋の伝統であるイースターサンデーを祝う日です。

毎年、イースターはキリスト教の数え日により、違う日になります。

今年は４月２０日です。

この日の起源は、キリストが卵のように蘇った、キリストの復活を祝うところからきています。

この日は皆、チョコレートの卵を交換しあいます。

イースターラビットがいて、子供達からキャンディーの卵を見つかりにくい所におき、「イースターエッグハント」（どこにキャンディの卵があるか探すゲーム）をします。

HARIO  でもイースターの飾りつけになりました。皆さん、見てくださいね。
