Hello everyone,

Did you have a nice Golden Week? I’ve been asking my students what they did during the holiday, and it seems barbecues were very popular this year. It makes sense, because people can’t travel as much, and it’s a good way to make the best of the warm weather and spending a day at home with family. We had one in our garden on Green Day (May 4th). Did you know that May 4th has another special day attached to it around the world? It’s also “Star Wars” day! Why May 4th? It comes from the well-known catchphrase from the Star Wars movies, “May the force be with you.” This rhymes with “May the 4th be with you.” Since the movies have become popular, May 4th has been Star Wars day all over the world. Have you seen all 9 of the movies? I have noticed that people from my generation like the first trilogy best (Episodes 4 – 6). But when I ask the younger generation, our students, they prefer the prequel trilogy (episodes 1 – 3). I think we generally prefer movies that we first saw at a young age. Looking back at old movies now, it’s easy to tell they were made a long time ago. The first Star Wars movie came out 43 years ago! Wow! Hopefully there are more great movies to come in the future.

ゴールデンウィークはいかがでしたか。生徒達に聞くとバーベキューをしたという回答が一番多かったです。

旅行にはまだいけないので、温暖な天気のなかで家族と過ごすには一番いい方法ですね。

という私も、バーベキューを５月４日にしました。５月４日は、世界中で特別な日であることをご存じですか

この日はスターウォーズの日です。

理由はスターウォーズの有名なセリフからきています。

「フォースがあなたと共にありますように。」 これは「５月４日があなたと共にありますように」と韻を踏んでいます。

映画が人気を博して以来、５月４日は世界中でスターウォーズの日となっています。 みなさんは、９シリーズすべてご覧になりましたか

我々世代の人は最初の三部作（エピソード４～６）が一番好きだといます。 しかし、若い世代に尋ねると、彼らは前編の三部作（エピソード１～３）の方がよいと言います。 一般的に、若い頃に最初に見た映画を好むと言われています。 今昔の映画を振り返ると、昔の映画だと簡単にわかります。 最初のスターウォーズ映画は43年前に公開されました！ すごいですね。 将来的にもっと素晴らしい映画が登場することを期待しています。
