Next week is Valentine’s day 💝

I remember fondly the Valentine’s day parties and special events at my elementary school.

In the US, it’s common for school children to give a Valentine’s day card with a piece of candy to everyone in their class, regardless of gender. In fact, many stores sell packs of around twenty cards and candies around this time of year just for this reason!

However, there’s another kind of awkward tradition 😳

 

Many students would give the same valentine to everyone in their class, except their crush…

We’d give a special, more elaborate valentine to them. It might have a hand made card or sweet, or it might include other gifts like a teddy bear or flowers.

 

What Valentine’s day traditions you observe in Japan?

みなさんこんにちは、ジェラルドです。

来週はバレンタインデーです。

小学生の時のバレンタインパーティーと特別な出来事を思い出します。

アメリカではクラスのみんなにバレンタインカードとちょっとしたお菓子を一緒に渡すのが普通でした。

性別は関係なくです。そのために実際多くの店が20枚セットのカードやお菓子をこの時期に売っています。

 

しかしもう一つおかしな風習があります。

 

多くの生徒がクラス全員に同じようにバレンタインの贈り物をします。大好きな人を除いて…

好きな人には特別で手の込んだものを用意します。手作りのカードや、お菓子、またはテディベアや花束のような贈り物と一緒に渡すかもしれません。

日本ではどんなバレンタインの風習がありますか？
