Hello everyone,

It’s October, or the spooky month, as some people call it. Why is it spooky? Because of Halloween of course! Don’t get too scared yet, however, it isn’t until the end of the month. You should be thinking of a good costume to wear to Hario during Halloween week. Have you decided what you will be yet? October also means that the speech homework will finish by the end of the month. Many of our students can say all of their speech by now. There’s still a month to go before our parent’s day speech classes, and for some lucky students, the Hario Speech Contest on November 17th. So they still have time to put the finishing touches on to their speeches to make it special. Well done to all of our students for working hard so far. Keep it up!

Typhoon Trami came through Shizuoka on Sunday night. It was one of the strongest typhoons I’ve ever experienced in Japan. The driving wind was shaking our bedroom window and made a lot of noise. I saw on the news that it caused some damage all over the country. Thankfully it was at night where we were, and the weather was fine the next day. Typhoons are common at this time of year when the seasons are changing. It’s autumn now, so the nights are cooler and it’s warm during the day. That’s my favourite kind of weather in the year. Although it would be nicer without all the rain! I hope that the typhoon season stays quiet for a while. In the Atlantic Ocean, they are called hurricanes, but there is no real difference between the two. Ireland gets many of these during the year, but they are usually downgraded to a storm by the time they reach the country.

Happy birthday Gerald! We celebrated his birthday yesterday with a little party where we ate lots of delicious cake. Hope you had a great birthday.

みなさん、こんにちは

10月、それは不気味な月だという人もいますね。なぜ不気味なのか

もちろんハロウィーンだからです！でもまだ怖がり過ぎないでください。

ハロウィーンは月末まではありません

みなさんはハロウィーンウィークにＨＡＲＩＯへ着てくる素敵な衣装を考えてください

もう何になるか決めましたか

 

10月ということは月末にスピーチの宿題が終わるということでもあります。

多くの生徒達はもう今や自分のスピーチを全部言うことができます。

まだ授業参観でのスピーチクラス、そして幸運な生徒達にとっては11/17日のＨＡＲＩＯスピーチコンテストまで、まだあとひと月あります。ですから生徒達はまだスピーチをスペシャルなものにするための最後の仕上げの時間があります。

ここまでどの生徒達も一生懸命練習し、よく頑張りました

台風24号が日曜の夜に静岡を通過しました。私が日本で経験した中で最も強い台風の一つでした

猛烈な風が寝室の窓を揺らし、大きな音をたてました。ニュースで台風が全国で被害をもたらしたと言っていました。

ありがたいことに夜に起こり、翌日には天気は回復していました今年は台風が季節の変わり目に良く起こっています。

今では秋になり、日中は暖かく夜には涼しくなります。1年の中で私が好きな感じの季節です

雨がなければもっと良いのですが！

しばらくは台風の時期が収まってくれたらと思います。太平洋ではハリケーンと呼ばれますが、それらに特に違いはありません。アイルランドは年間に何度もハリケーンが起こりますが、たいていは国にたどり着くまでには嵐(ストーム)程度になっています。

昨日私達はたくさんのケーキを食べながら小さなパーティーをし、彼のお祝いをしました。

すばらしい誕生日を過ごせていたらと思います。
