Hello everyone,

I hope our students had a relaxing weekend after the previous weekend of Hario Camp. It was such an active weekend that a rest is what everyone needed. I’m enjoying the nice weather recently, but the rainy season is almost here! In mid-June it’s going to be humid and rainy for a while. To be honest, it doesn’t rain much more than Ireland during the rainy season here. The only difference is that it can be rainy at any time in Ireland. So enjoy the dry weather while it lasts!

After Hario Camp we are now looking forward to Hario’s next big event, the Speech Contest. We have received almost all of the speeches from our students, and we are now busy translating them to English. There are some very interesting topics in there. I’m already looking forward to hearing our students perform them. We will record the speeches and give out speech packs in July.

Despite the rainy season on the way, I’m looking forward to June. The World Cup kicks off on the 15th and I’m rooting for Japan, because Ireland didn’t qualify. Japan have a tough group to get through but I think they have a chance. I hope the time difference is ok, and we can watch live games. Some games are at 9PM, which is a good time, but others are a 3AM! It’s always a problem with live sporting events around the world. We can either stay up all night and watch a live game, or check the result in the morning. Luckily next year’s Rugby World Cup won’t be a problem. That’s because it’s here in Japan. I’m looking forward to it and hopefully I can go to see a game or two live. I’ll get to meet many Irish fans who travel to see the games. I’m not just going to watch sports. I’m also planning to play a lot more tennis this summer.

みなさんこんにちは。

HARIOキャンプの後ゆったりとした週末を過ごせていたらと思います。とてもアクティブな週末でしたのでみなさん休息が必要でしたね。

ここ最近はとてもお天気がよく嬉しいですがもうすぐ梅雨ですね！6月中旬には湿気と雨がしばらく続きます。

しかし日本はアイルランドほどは雨が降りません。アイルランドではいつでも雨です。

HARIOキャンプを終えてHARIOの次のビッグイベントを楽しみにしています。それはスピーチコンテストです。

生徒の皆さんのほとんどからスピーチ作文を受け取りました。そして今はそれらを英語に翻訳するのに忙しくしています。

中にはとてもおもしろいスピーチのトピックもあります。それらのスピーチの発表を聞くのが楽しみです。

７月にはスピーチCDを皆さんに配布できるとおもいます。

雨期がやってくるにも関わらず、わたしには、６月に楽しみなことがありますそれは１５日にワールドカップが開幕するということです。

わたしは日本の応援をします。なぜなら今回、アイルランドは出場できなかったからです。

日本は勝ち進むのに困難なグループになりますが、チャンスはあると思います。

時差は大丈夫だと思いますから生の試合を観戦できます。いくつかの試合は９時とちょうど良いですが、他は午前３時です。

世界のライブスポーツ観戦にはいつもこの問題がついてまわります。一晩中起きて生の試合を見るか、朝起きて結果だけ見ることができます。幸い次のラグビーワールドカップは問題なさそうです。なぜなら日本でやるからです。とても楽しみにしています。そして願わくば一試合か二試合生で見に行けたらと思います。試合を見にやってくる多くのアイルランド人ファンと会うことでしょう。

スポーツ観戦に行くだけではありません。この夏わたしはもっとたくさんテニスを練習する予定です。
