Hello everyone!

This past weekend was the much-anticipated HARIO Speech Contest. After a lot of work and preparation by both staff and students it was finally time for the big day!

First our students wrote their speeches in Japanese. They chose from a variety of topics such as hobbies and interests, vacations and events, and their future dreams. Then their speeches were translated to English and special vocabulary and phrases were set aside to study so that each student would know exactly what they would be saying in their speech.

Next the HARIO staff worked hard to record audio CDs of their speech and new vocabulary to study from. Now it was time for the students to work hard! After many weeks it was finally time to decide who worked the hardest and who would be selected for the Speech Contest!

While the students were busy practicing, the HARIO staff spent their time making sure the event would be as special as possible!

I hope everyone enjoyed the Speech Contest. I know I enjoyed seeing everyone on stage performing their speeches and seeing the younger students singing and dancing in their great costumes!

みなさんこんにちは、マットです！

この週末は待ちに待ったＨＡＲＩＯスピーチコンテストでしたスタッフも生徒もたくさん練習し、準備して、ついに本番でした

まず生徒達は自分のスピーチを日本語で作文しました。趣味や興味のあること、休日や莞弁路、それから将来の夢などいろいろなトピックから選びました。それから彼らのスピーチは英語に翻訳され、自分たちがどんなことをスピーチの中で言うのか正確に知るために、特別な語彙やフレーズを別に勉強しました。

次に、ＨＡＲＩＯのスタッフがそれらのスピーチや新しい語彙を覚えるためのＣＤを一生懸命録音しました。そうして今度は生徒達が頑張る番でした！何週間もして、ようやく誰が最も頑張り、誰がスピーチコンテストへ進むのか決める時になりました！

生徒達が練習に忙しくする中、ＨＡＲＩＯのスタッフはできる限りイベントが特別な物になるよう全力を尽くしました

みなさんがスピーチコンテストを楽しんでくれたのなら幸いです皆さんがステージ上でスピーチを発表する様子や、幼い生徒達が素敵な衣装を着て歌やダンスをする様子を見られて楽しかったです！
