Hello everyone,

I hope you had an enjoyable Silver Week. Japan had two Happy Monday holidays in a row. Last week was “Respect for the Agd Day”, and yeesterday was the “Autumnal Equinox”, signalling the halfway point between Summer and Winter. Even though, we are halfway, it feels more like summer to me!

I had an amazing time last week. My parents, brother and five friends from Ireland all came to Japan. My parents were very jet-lagged but happy to see their granddaughter again. We went to Makaino Farm, Kachoen Owl and Flower Garden, Fujinomiya Shrine and Museum, Misihima Shrine and Skywalk. I was exhausted driving to all of these places, but they are great days out with the family. My mother was very impressed by Kachoen Garden because she loves animals and flowers. They had a great bird show where different owls and hawks flew over our heads. On Thursday I went to Tokyo to meet my brother and friends. We went to the Samurai museum and learned a lot of Japanese History. On Saturday everyone came to Fuji. I gave my friends some options of things to do in Fuji. Can you guess what they chose? They decided to go to round one for some games! We had a barbeque in Fuji and went to Yokohama that  for a fun night out. Sunday was a big day, the rugby world cup! First we went to the “Fan Zone” in Yokohama Bay. It’s an area that looks like a festival before the rugby match. We had lunch there and then headed to the Yokohama International Stadium, near Shin-Yokohama Station to see Ireland vs. Scotland. I couldn’t believe how many people were walking to the stadium. The streets were full of people wearing either green or navy blue. Of course all of us were wearing green Ireland jerseys. My daughter was given a present of one. The attendance at the match was 65,000 people! It was a great game. Ireland showed their strength as world number one by winning 27 – 3. Their next game is against Japan in Ecopa on Saturday. I’ll be there, and I’ll let you know how it went.

It was great to see so many Irish people in Japan, they all loved it here. My family are flying home today, and they can’t wait until next time.

みなさん、こんにちは。シルバーウィークは楽しめましたか。日本では３連休が二つ続きましたね。先週は、敬老の日で昨日は秋分の日でした。夏と冬の境目ということですが、まだ夏のようです。私は最高のシルバーウィークを過ごしました。両親と弟、５人の友人がアイルランドから日本に遊びに来たからです。両親は、ひどい時差ボケにかかっていましたが、孫にあえてうれしそうでした。彼らとまかいの牧場や花鳥園、浅間神社、三島大社、三島スカイウォークに行きました。運転は疲れましたが、天気がすばらしくよかったです。私の母は、動物や花が好きなので、花鳥園に感動していました。木曜日には、その５人の友人に会うために東京へ行きました。侍ミュージアムにいき、日本の歴史を学びました。土曜日は彼らが富士にきました。私は富士でやれることをいくつか提案しました。彼らは何を選んだと思いますか。彼らはラウンドワンにいってゲームをすることを選びました。その後は自宅で皆でバーベキューをし、日曜日にはラグビーワールドカップ、アイルランド対スコットランド、を観戦するために横浜に行きました。スタジアムに向かう時、驚くほどの数の人達も競技場へ向かっていました。その向かう道は、アイルランドの緑、又はスコットランドのネイビーの服を着た人で溢れていました。もちろん、私たち一行は緑のユニフォームを着ていました。そして競技場にはなんと６万５千人の観客が集まりました。すばらしい試合でした。アイルランドは、世界ランク１位の力を見せつけ、２７対３で圧勝しました。次の対戦相手は日本です。今週の土曜日、エコパスタジアムで行われます。もちろん私は観戦に行きます。次のブログで報告しますね。日本でたくさんのアイルランド人にあえて、うれしく思いました。皆、日本を気に入っていました。私の家族は今日、アイルランドに旅たちました。次に会える日をまた楽しみにしています。
