Hello everyone!

It’s been a not-so-lovely week as it seems as though rainy season has started early this year. I hope you are keeping dry as best as you can.

As many people in Japan know, Shohei Ohtani is a famous professional baseball player. He was a superstar in Japan for years and he’s been playing in America the last few years. His first season in MLB was a great success! He excited fans around the world because of his ability to be a great pitcher AND batter. But his season was cut short due to injuries and the following 2 seasons he wasn’t able to play much at all.

Now in 2021, he’s healthy and doing amazing! Almost every day I see highlights of him hitting a home run or having a great pitching performance. He even leads the Major Leagues in Home Runs right now with 14! Incredible! As a foreign fan, it’s great to see another Japanese player play at an All-Star level again. Too many players have come over from Japan and have been disappointing because of poor play, more difficult competition or injuries. I hope many more come over to the Major Leagues at a younger age like Shohei to truly test themselves against the best players in the world!

今週は、雨が多く気持ちのすっきりしない一週間です。

日本の多くの方がご存じだと思いますが、大谷翔平は有名なプロ野球選手です。彼は、日本で何年間かスーパースターとして活躍した後、今はアメリカでプレーを続けています。MLBでの彼の最初のシーズンは大成功でした彼は素晴らしい投手と打者（二刀流）になる能力があり、世界中の野球ファンを興奮させました。しかし、怪我のためにシーズンが短くなり、次の2シーズンはまったくプレーできなくなりました。

しかし今年は、彼は怪我もなく素晴らしい活躍をしていますほぼ毎日、彼が本塁打を打ったり、素晴らしいピッチングパフォーマンスをしたりするハイライトを目にします。彼は今ホームランの数でメジャーリーグでトップの14本です！信じられないません、すごい！外国人の野球ファンとして、日本人選手が再びオールスターレベルでプレーするのを見るのはうれしいことです。あまりにも多くのプレーヤーが日本からやって来て、貧弱なプレー、無理な試合や怪我があり、がっかりさせられています。世界最高の選手と真に対戦するために翔平のような若い世代の選手にもっとメジャーリーグに来てくれることを願っています。
