Hey, 

So I know that recently there has been a lot of news surrounding The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, also known as Prince Harry and his wife Meghan. Early this year, the Prince announced that they were wanting to step back as being working senior royals. This situation has never happened before in the UK and as such it has divided many people in the UK. Some people believe that Prince Harry is doing what is best for his new family and others believe that he betraying the royal family and the British people. For those of you who are not from the UK, this may seem strange. But many people in the UK, especially the older generation view  Prince Harry and Prince Will as one of their own family members. Unlike Japan, the British royal family are often shown in media and as such many people become attached to them. Also since the passing of Princess Diana, the British public have watched Prince Harry and Prince Will grow from a young age and now that Prince Harry is wanting to step down it has left many people heartbroken.

ご存じのように、最近ではイギリスのヘンリー王子とメーガン妃のニュースでいっぱいです。今年になって、ヘンリー王子が王室の公務から退きたいという旨をアナウンスしました。これはUKでは初めてのことで、国民の意見が分かれています。ヘンリー王子は家族のために苦渋の決断をしたのだと考える人もいれば、王室やイギリス人の期待を裏切ったと思っている人もいます。この意見に、イギリス人でない人は、おかしいと思うかもしれません。しかし特に年配の人々にとっては、ヘンリー王子やウィリアム王子は家族の一員のような存在なのです。日本と違って、イギリスの王室はよくメディアにとりあげられ、人々は彼らに愛着をもっています。ダイアナ妃が亡くなって以来、イギリスの人々は、ヘンリー王子やウィリアム王子の成長を見守ってきました。なので、今回のヘンリー王子の決断にイギリス人の多くがショックを受けているのです。

As the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will no longer be working senior members of the royal family, they will have to give up their HRH titles and also will no longer be able to receieve money from taxpayers. Many people are interested to see how the couple will live once they officially step down. The two will now balance their time between the UK and North America.
