Hello everyone,

 

Last week in Japan we had the Daruma Festival. Once again we went to the big Fuji City Daruma Festival!

 

I really enjoy the Daruma Festival in Fuji. With most festivals there are a lot of vendors selling festival foods, but we can see a lot of those items all throughout the year. The special vendors for this festival are of course the Daruma sellers. Last year I didn’t purchase a Daruma, I was too busy looking at everything that was going on! So this year I made sure to buy one for our family and one for my family back in Canada.

 

We also took part in a blessing ceremony, hoping to remove the bad luck and spirits from ourselves so that we have a good year. I really hope it works! I also had a candle burned for body health that will hopefully bring some luck to any of my aching parts.

みなさんこんにちは、マットです。

先週日本ではだるまフェスティバルがありました。今年も富士市の毘沙門天祭りに行ってきました！

私はこの祭りが大好きです。普通のおまつりにも屋台がたくさんありますが、このお祭りで特別な屋台はもちろんだるま売りです。昨年はだるまを買いませんでした。目の前の出来事を見るのでせいいっぱいだったからです。だから今年は自分の家族やカナダの実家に絶対だるまを買おうと決めていました。

それから祈祷式にも参加しました。不幸や邪悪なものを払い、よい一年を過ごすためのものです。

本当にそうなるといいなと思います。

また、健康のためろうそくに火を灯して体の痛みを和らげてくれるように願いました。
