Hello everyone,

I hope you had an enjoyable Obon break and are well rested. I had a great time last week. Although I stayed here in Shizuoka, I travelled around a little. We went to Mount Fuji Children’s World, Lake Tanuki, Makaino Farm and Rakujuen Park, Mishima, so it was quite a busy week. The last time we went to Mount Fuji Children’s World it was a regular school day, so it was practically empty. We walked around and saw almost nobody else. This time, however, was very different. Due the summer vacation it was full of families enjoying a day out. There were children everywhere and we had to queue for a while to hire a canoe. My wife’s friends and their children came too. Thankfully they kept the canoe upright and nobody fell in the water. The weather changed a lot that day. It went from cloudy to sunny to rainy to misty all in a few hours. At least there wasn’t any thunder like the previous day. Last Monday there was so much thunder and lightning here in Fuji. It was striking close and shaking our house. We don’t get long thunderstorms like that in Ireland, usually lightning will strike two or three times and it’s over. It was a wetter Obon week than usual but we made the most of the dry spells. My daughter got to ride horses three times! Children’s World, Makaino Farm, and Rakujuen Park all do horse rides, so she enjoyed those trips. She’s a big fan of all animals, and regularly asks me to take her to Makaino. She still isn’t brave enough to hand feed the sheep and goats, so she throws the food in front of them or puts food in my hand and holds it out to them. Rakujuen Park in Mishima is another great place to see animals. They have alpacas, capybaras, a red panda and some other animals you rarely see outside a zoo. All of our destinations were great places to bring kids, so it’s a fun and tiring day out for everyone. We’re back to work now, and our students will be back to school soon. For now though, they are back with us in the mornings to learn some English.

みなさんこんにちは

お盆休みは楽しくのんびりできましたか。私は先週素晴らしい時間を過ごしました。

静岡にいましたが、少し周辺を旅行しました。

私たちは富士山こどもの国、田貫湖、馬飼の牧場、そして三島の楽寿園に行きましたですからとても忙しい１週間でした。

前回富士山こどもの国へ行った時は通常の学校の日でした。そのためところどころ空いていました

歩き回ってもほとんど誰も見かけませんでした。

しかし今回は全く違っていました。

夏休みだったこともありお出かけを楽しむ家族であふれていました

あちこちに子供たちがいてカヌーを借りるのにしばらく並ばなければなりませんでした私の妻の友人とそのこどもたちも行きました。

幸いにも誰も水に落ちることはありませんでした

その日は天気がよく変わりました。数時間の間に曇から晴れになり、雨が降り、霞がかかりました。少なくとも先日のような雷はありませんでした。先週の月曜日はものすごい雷と稲妻がここ富士でありました。

近くに落ちて私の家を揺らしました。アイルランドではそのような長い雷の嵐はありません。

ふつう稲妻はに三回で終わりです。いつもより雨がちなお盆の一週間でしたが雨でない間をめいいっぱい楽しみました

私の娘は３回も乗馬をしました！こどもの国、馬飼の牧場、そして楽寿園全てで乗馬ができ、彼女はそれらの旅行を楽しみました

娘はあらゆる動物がだいすきで、いつも私に馬飼の牧場に連れてってと頼みます。

娘はいまだに手から羊やヤギにエサを与えるのを怖がるので、彼らの目の前にエサを投げるか、私の手の中にエサを入れ、その手を持って彼らに差し出します

三島の楽寿園は動物を見るのにまた良い場所です。アルパカやカピバラ、レッサーパンダそして他にも滅多に動物園の外では見られない動物を飼っています。どの目的地も子供を連れていくには素晴らしい場所でした

なので全員が楽しみ、疲れた一日でした。

 

そしてお休みが終わり、日常に戻りました。

いつものように生徒達は、朝からHARIOにきて勉強をしています
