Hello everyone,

I’m a new teacher here at Hario. Im learning a lot and enjoying meeting so many new students. I can tell that all of you have been working hard with Ryan and I look forward to speaking English with you. I am from the U.S. I studied Business Management in university and I had several different jobs while I was a student. I met some of my first Japanese friends when I worked for my university’s Office of International Programs. After graduating, I worked in China as an English Teacher for two years before moving to Japan to continue teaching English.  When I’m not working, I like to practice drawing, play video games, and of course, study Japanese! Actually, I can speak a bit of Spanish and Chinese, but I’m still studying Japanese. I use the language learning application called DuoLingo. It’s a great way to keep your memory fresh of a language you study, but you definitely need a book and a teacher, too. I suggest using DuoLingo to learn new phrases and to kill time when you take a ride on a train.

A lot of our students are working hard to keep advancing their English skills during this summer break. Some of you might be jealous of Alan’s summer breaks, but don’t worry- lots of American schoolchildren have summer work, too! When I was in grade school, we had a long summer break for two months, but we also had a ‘summer reading list’. We had to read several books over the summer break to continue working on understanding literature. Some schools in my hometown even had summer projects! Even though I wanted to enjoy my summer breaks and be lazy, having some work to do made me appreciate the time I did have with my family and friends. In fact, I think one of my friends introduced me to one of my favorite books, “I am Legend” by Richard Matheson. I hope all of our students find a good balance between studying and relaxing this holiday.

みなさんこんにちは。

私はここＨＡＲＩＯの新しい先生ですたくさん学び、たくさんの新しい生徒達にお会いできてうれしく思っています。

みなさんがライアン先生とよく勉強してきたことがわかりますみなさんとこれから、英語を話すことが楽しみです

私はアメリカ出身で、大学ではビジネスマネジメントを学びました。

また学生の間にいろんなアルバイトを経験しました

大学の国際プログラムの事務所で働いたときに初めて日本人の友達が何人かできました。

卒業後、日本で英語教師なる前は、中国で英語教師として働きました。

余暇は絵を描く練習をしたり、ゲームをしたり、もちろん日本語を勉強するのが好きです

実は私は少しだけスペイン語と中国語が話せますが、日本語はまだ勉強中です

「ＤｕｏＬｉｎｇｏ」というアプリを使って勉強しています。学習中の言語をよく覚えておくためにとても良い方法です。

しかしみなさんには絶対に本と、先生も必要です「ＤｕｏＬｉｎｇｏ」は新しいフレーズを学ぶためや電車での暇つぶしに使うことをお勧めします

 

たくさんの生徒さんが英語のスキルを上げ続けるために夏休み中一生懸命勉強をしています

中にはアラン先生の夏休みをうらやましく思う人も居るかもしれませんが、心配なさらず

多くのアメリカの学生たちも夏休みの宿題があります

わたしが学生の時は、2か月間の長い夏休みがありました。しかし「夏の読書リスト」というものもありました。

夏休み中、文学の理解を深めるために何冊か本を読まなければなりませんでした

わたしのまちのいくつかの学校は「夏期プロジェクト」というものさえありました

夏休みを楽しみ、かつだらだらしたいと思っていましたが、何かしらやることがあるのは家族や友達と過ごす時間のありがたさを感じさせてくれました

実際私の友人の一人は私のお気に入りの本の一つを紹介してくれました。「アイ・アム・レジェンド」というリチャード・マシスンによって書かれた本です生徒の皆さんがこの夏休みに勉強とくつろぐ時間の良いバランスを見つけてくれたらと思います
