Hello everyone,

Summer is here and for a lot of students the summer holidays have begun. Students here may be jealous to know that most North American schools have an 8+ week summer holiday! That gives you a lot of time to have fun outside with your friends, play sports, go camping, go to camps or spend the rainy days inside reading your favourite book or playing your favourite video game.

My childhood summers were spent at my grandparent’s house about 200km from Toronto. Their house was right on the Bay of Quinte which meant a whole summer of swimming, fishing, canoeing and doing cannonballs off the dock! I loved cycling to the nearby hamburger stand to grab a hot dog and play mini golf, then cooling off with a swim in the bay. At night we would rent VHS tapes and watch scary movies or stay up trying to beat the latest Super Famicom game!

Make sure you take advantage of your time off and do something you enjoy, the summer break may feel long and boring at times but you will wish you could have that time off again when you begin your careers! So tell me about your summer plans, what are you looking forward to most?

みなさんこんにちは。

夏がやってきました。そしてたくさんの生徒さん達が夏休みがはじまりました。

生徒の皆さんはほとんどの北アメリカの学校が8週間以上夏休みがあると聞いてうらやましく思うかもしれません。そのおかげで友達と外でたくさん遊び、スポーツをし、キャンプへ行ったりします。あるいは読書やゲームをして室内で雨の日を過ごします。

私の子供時代の夏はトロンとから200キロほど離れたところにいる祖父母の家で過ごしました。彼らの家はちょうどクイント湾のあたりにありました。そのため夏の間中、水泳、釣り、カヌー、それからデッキから飛び込みをすることができました！近くのハンバーガー屋さんへ自転車でホットドッグを買いに行くことやミニゴルフをし、クイント湾で泳いで涼むことが大好きでした夜にはビデオテープを借りて怖い話を観たり、最新のスーパーファミコンを夜通しでやっつけようとしたものでした
