Hello everyone,

I think the rainy season is finally over. It’s sunny and humid today, and it really feels like the height of summer. I have to cool off with the air conditioner at work and at home. In Ireland there aren’t any air conditioners because it rarely ever gets hot. Last week however, it was unusually warm, and parents said they were even thinking of buying an air conditioner. I think that would only be useful for about two weeks per year! It never gets above 30 degrees, so there’s no need for one. There was a heatwave across Ireland and the U.K. recently, so everyone is out enjoying the hot weather. The hottest temperature ever recorded in Ireland was 33 degrees. That’s just a normal summer day in Fuji of course. I think the most difficult thing about Japan’s summer is the humidity rather than the heat. It’s very humid here from June through to September. That’s why it’s such a relief to walk into an air conditioned room after being outside. But don’t worry about the summer heat, there are still plenty of things to enjoy in summer. There are barbeques, obon week, and of course festivals! Fuji festival promises to be extra special this year because they will host the Disney parade. People from cities all over Shizuoka will be coming to watch the parade, so it’s very exciting. My daughter is a big Disney fan, so she wants to attend the parade in fancy dress. I think she’ll need to sit on my shoulders to see above the crowd of people. I’m looking forward to this summer, there are many fun times ahead.

I’d like to welcome our newest Hario staff member Gerald to our team. He comes all the way from North Carolina, in the U.S.A. and has been meeting and getting to know our students this week. I’m looking forward to working with him and wish him a happy career with us. Welcome aboard!

 

 

みなさんこんにちは！

ついに梅雨が終わったようですね。今日は晴れていますが湿気があり、本当に夏真っ盛りという感じですね。

職場でも家でもエアコンで涼まなければなりません。アイルランドではエアコンはありません。なぜならめったに暑くならないからです。ですが先週めずらしく暑く、両親がエアコンを買おうかとさえ考えたと言っていましたきっと年に2週間くらいしか使わないと思います！

30度を超えることはなく、エアコンは必要ありません。最近はアイルランドとイギリスに渡って熱波があったため、皆、暑い気候を外で楽しむことができました。アイルランドのこれまでの最高気温は33度です。富士ではもちろんそんなのただの普通の夏の日ですよね。

日本の夏で最も違う点は暑さというよりも湿気がある事です。６月から９月にかけてとても日本はじめじめします。

だから外からエアコンの効いた室内を通り抜ける時とてもほっとします。しかし夏の暑さをご心配なさらず。他にもたくさん夏の楽しみはありますバーベキュー、お盆休み、それからもちろんお祭りがあります！

富士祭りは今年さらに特別なことを用意しています。というのも、ディズニーパレードを催すからです。

静岡県内の市外の人がたくさんパレードを見に来るでしょう。とってもわくわくします！

私の娘は大のディス二―ファンです。なので、おしゃれなドレスを着てそのパレードに参加したがっています。

人ごみの上から見るために私の肩に座らなければならないでしょうこれからたくさん楽しい事が待っているので今年の夏が楽しみです。

 

新しく私達の仲間に加わるジェラルド先生を歓迎したいと思います。

遥か遠くのアメリカ、北カロライナ州からやってきました。

彼とこれからHARIOで働くのが楽しみです。そしてわたしたちと一緒に幸せなキャリアを歩むことを願います。
