Hello Everyone,

I hope you are enjoying the warmer weather and are staying dry during the rainy season. This week I wanted to talk to you about one of the reasons I really love the sport of baseball, there are no ties! Well…most of the time there aren’t!

Baseball is North America is well known as a sport played where there is always a winner and loser. Every game is played until a winner is declared, no matter how long the game goes on! I was once at a baseball game is Los Angeles where the game went all the way into the 18^th inning. That’s two whole games it once!

The longest Major League game by innings which ended with one team winning, was a 7–6 victory by the Chicago White Sox over the Milwaukee Brewers in 25 innings, at Comiskey Park in Chicago in 1984. 25 innings! In Japan, baseball will sometimes have ties which is fine for the fans in attendance as they can plan their day easier, but for us hardcore fans we always want to see a winner! When a game has been played for a few hours and the score is tied, it’s very intense watching it when you know a single swing could end the game.

So far in Japan there has been two occasions where my team’s game has ended in a draw…but we must have a winner! So in schoolyard style we settled who wins and loses by team rock paper scissors! In the two games we have one victory and one loss, though I didn’t help my team much since I lost my rock, paper scissors battle twice! Our team manager has since told us that we should skip practicing defense, hitting and throwing and practice our rock paper scissors skills!

だんだん暖かくなってきましたが、梅雨の時期の間は、涼しさを味わいたいものです。

今週は私がなぜ野球が大好きなのかお話したいと思います。野球には引き分けがありません！まぁ・・・ほとんどの場合は！

北アメリカでは野球は常に勝敗のあるスポーツとして知られています。どの試合も勝者を決するまで行われ、試合の長さは関係ありません！

私はロサンゼルスの野球の試合に1度出ました。試合は全18回に及びました。というのは1回にまるまる2試合分です！

勝者が決まって終わった最も長いメジャーリーグの試合は1984年にシカゴのコミンスキーパークで25回の末シカゴホワイトソックスがミルウォークブリュワーズを7対6で破った試合でした。日本では観客のスケジュールを考えて引き分けにすることがあります。しかし私達のような熱狂的なファンからするといつだって勝者が見たいのです！
