Hello everyone!

 

I hope you are all enjoying the warm weather. Spring is here but it seems summer is just around the corner.

 

Springtime is Japan is famous for the many Sakura festivals. This year we have gone to festivals all over Shizuoka but the one I might remember most was in Kanbara! Kanbara is very close to Fuji and they have a unique weekend Sakura Festival. In Kanbara near the train station is a small mountain with a shrine at the base. You can climb up the mountain paths to travel around the mountainside which gives you a great view of the ocean. We were lucky enough to go on a very clear day so you could view the entire Izu peninsula!

 

At the Kanbara festival there are cherry trees all along the ocean-side of the mountain. There were cherry blossom petals all around! Also the mountain path has lanterns which means you can enjoy the different views even at night! We really enjoyed our day in Kanbara including eating some delicious festival food.

みなさん、こんにちは。マットです。

みなさん、春の陽気な天気を楽しんでいますか。

春はやってきましたが、もう夏が近づいている気配です。

春に行われる日本の桜祭りは有名です。

今年は静岡のあらゆる桜祭りに出かけましたが、一番印象に残ったのは、蒲原の桜祭りでした。

富士からも近く、少し他の祭りとも違います。

蒲原駅の近くには小さな山があり、その入り口に神社があります。

桜を見ながらその山を登ると、駿河湾を望める美しい景色に出会えます。

その日は伊豆半島も見ることができるぐらい空気が澄んでいました。

桜の山道がたくさんあり、美しい桜を満喫できます。

夜になると提灯がともり、また違う景色を味わえます。

屋台の食べ物と桜を堪能できたすばらしい一日でした。
