So the countdown to Christmas is currently happening and many people and places are already in the Christmas spirit. My parents sent me some photos from a Christmas parade in Adelaide, Australia last weekend. The event has been around for more than 80 years and is an important family tradition.  The first parade was in 1933 and only had 8 floats and 4 bands. The parade this year however had 63 floats, 16 bands, 9 walking groups and 11 dance groups.

The exact number of people who attended the event is difficult to calculate but it is estimated that about 320,000 people attended. The parade is also a big hit with television adiences and is repeated on TV on Christmas day.

あっという間にもうすぐクリスマスです。周りの雰囲気や人もクリスマスモードになってきました。

私の両親が、先週オーストラリアのアデレードで行われたクリスマスパレードの写真を送ってきました。このイベントは８０年以上のつづいていて、大切な伝統行事です。最初のパレードは１９３３年で、その当時はたった８つの山車と４つのバンドしかいませんでした。今年のパレードでは、６３の山車と１６のバンド、９つのウォーキンググループと１１のダンスグループが参加しました。

イベントに参加した人の人数は確かではありませんが、だいたい３２万人だそうです。またテレビでも放映され、高い視聴率をとりました。

みなさんの住んでいる場所にはクリスマスのパレードはありますか。
