Hello everyone,

Next Sunday is Easter. Usually I would stuff my face with chocolate eggs, but this year they are difficult to get. My parents can’t send any from Ireland because of unsure transport conditions. The last package they sent stayed in India for two weeks before moving on to Japan. I think if it was stored in a hot warehouse in India, maybe a chocolate egg would melt into a chocolate blob! The unusual transport situation isn’t just caused by covid now. Last week, a huge ship blocked the Suez Canal in Egypt, which is a huge source of transport of goods from Europe to Asia. Just yesterday, it was freed, and the traffic can pass through, but there is a huge tailback of hundreds of ships waiting to get through. They say it might take months for things to get back to normal there. So, for those reasons, I won’t be getting any Easter eggs from Ireland this year. But don’t worry! I found some in Aeon recently. Kaldi is a great shop to find imported food, and I found some Easter eggs in there. So, if you want to eat too much chocolate like everyone does at Easter, it’s still possible. The standard Easter egg back home is a hollow chocolate egg with two bars of chocolate. Mars, Snickers, and any other chocolate snacks you think of, they all have a special Easter egg. I think Japan has already had enough chocolate after Valentine’s Day and White Day, so we’ll take a break from the snacks for now.

次の日曜日はイースターです。普段はチョコレートエッグをたらふく食べますが、今年はなかなか手に入りません。

私のアイルランドの両親は、現在の輸送状況の問題で、何も送ることができません。

両親が贈ってくれたチョコレートエッグの荷物は、今2週間インドで止まっています。

今頃もインドの熱い倉庫に保管されていたら、チョコが溶けているのでないかと思います。

この異常な輸送状況は、コロナだけが原因ではありません。

先週、巨大な荷物船が座礁してエジプトのスエズ運河を封鎖してしまいました。スエズ運河はヨーロッパからアジアへの商品の巨大な港です。昨日、やっとこの封鎖がとけ、船は通過することができるようになりました。しかし通過を待っている何百隻もの貨物船が渋滞しています。これらの状況が正常に戻るのに数ヶ月かかると予想されており、これらの理由で、今年はアイルランドからイースターエッグを受け取ることができないのです。しかし、心配はご無用です！イースターエッグをイオンのカルディで見つけました。なので、いつものイースターのようにチョコを食べまくることもできます。
