Hello everyone,
Let’s take a moment to mourn the summer vacation… Haha just kidding! I hope all of our students who resumed their school year are having a productive and enjoyable week.
What did you do during the holiday?
Did your family take a trip to Nagano? Did you go to the pool?
If you did, don’t worry, I’m not a mind reader, but they’re popular activities during the summer, aren’t they?
In English, we have an idiom for when a coincidence happens, let me share it with you:
Sometimes, you might buy some cool sunglasses or a hat, only to find a classmate or coworker also got the same kind! Sometimes, you might buy a gift for someone and find out that other people got them the same gifts.
When this happens, we might say “great minds think alike”. This is a way to comment on the coincidence while also giving the other person a compliment- It basically means ‘This choice we both made was a good idea, we must both be clever to think of it.’
Feel free to ask me about English idioms and share Japanese idioms with me at Hario.See you around!
